Vertical Diet, who's doing it?

Theres also the constipation factor with a rice/meat only diet (among other things). After a few days Im plugged up...its an incomplete diet IMO ....
That’s personal though.

I was feeling fucking amazing on the diet. Waist was visibly tighter, sleep was good. It isn’t a health based diet. It’s a performance based diet, and like any diet if it doesn’t fit, move on. Also, nearly all diets should be supplemented with a multi at a minimum.

That is a common first reaction when you read over the diet. However, most people tend to feel really good from it. The whole diet is really based around improving digestion actually. The reason being the vertical diet is essentially an elimination diet.

Once you eliminate everything except these foods from your diet you should notice an improvement. Also, keep in mind, the diet isn't just steak and rice. There are a lot of other foods that are suggested. I believe he even suggests some chicken to get a little diversity. I do think there is a little bit of a lack of fiber in the diet... He suggests vegetables but I don't think it's quite enough to get a good amount of fiber. The idea behind all the red meat is that you'll adjust to it over time and then become hungrier faster and ready to eat again.

If you want a copy PM me your email and I'll send it to you. It's extremely expensive to buy... And I was kind of dissatisfied with some of it, some of the sections are just a link to an article that he doesn't even expand on. Some of the info contradicts itself also. But overall, the logic behind it is pretty sound albeit a little old-school.

It’s a blueprint to eat , clear out, and eat again, to eat as much as fucking possible to perform your best. That’s really it. Definitely overpriced, but such is the industry.

I don’t feel great eating more than 2 servings of red meat per day out of my six meals.

The diet is more or less a guidance and has food suggestions that digest easily for him. I have no issues with oatmeal, quinoa, brown rice, white potatoes, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, i enjoy those foods. I enjoy complex carbohydrates sometimes particularly at night (grow during sleep) and for lunch when I need sustained energy.

I agree with the fatty high protein breakfast to kick start your body’s metabolism of fat for energy.

I also think saturated fats are more likely to be stored as body fat compared to poly and monounsaturated fat sources. So if you are in a calorie surplus all that saturated fat from the steak, butter, and full fat yogurt isn’t a great idea. He doesn’t include healthy oils, nuts, or seeds high in polyunsaturated fats which are very anabolic.

Overall it’s okay but not ideal for me. Take what works for you and throw away the rest brothers!

Ive done this diet , many times (its logged here) we all have , and it has its short term benefits , just like Keto . Just like Paleo . But like the Keto I dont last that long and I dont like some of the side effects like weakness and boredom .

I do enjoy the "meat and nuts" breakfast . I can see the benefits there and get a huge energy boost from it . I add a tsp of olive oil to it .

I like whole eggs and egg whites with vegetables and maybe some cheese or avocado. Keeps your body running on fats. Especially if you are doing faster cardio.

My next meal would be lean chicken with healthy oil high in mono or polyunsaturated fat like EVOO, flax oil, grape seed oil, and maybe some seeds (sunflower, seasame, pumpkin) with vegetables.

Then for lunch and the rest of the day I’ll have carbs with every meal and some added fats, except post workout....just carbs (fructose abs glucose) and protein.

Works for me. I have trouble putting food down, and have noticed a lot of things I eat keep me full for way too long...
I can pound down beef and rice in copious amounts, and I'm starving by my next meal on the vertical diet.
I eat extra veggies and get supplemental fibre to cover all bases..

If it works keep it going!!!!

One thing i have noticed is that normally on other diets with heavier foods, as a truck driver i get crazy tired half way through the day. I haven't gotten that since starting this and have more energy. Very strong in the gym today also.
