Bros,

can someone out there help?
My roomate (v.good friend) has just learnt he has been a victim of Identity theft!! Runing credit checks, applying credit cards, running up bills etc... Apparently the cretin who did this left a cell phone for contact information that is in our local area.. If anyone knows of a "service" we could use to trace this number and somehow pay them a visit, your input would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks guys.

I think the appropriate service is called the Police Department.

All came to senses and calmed down and have contacted those services.. Amazing these people do this and get away with it!

a little confused as to why you find this shit funny rod?

Jale9579, I wasn't laughing at your poor friends situation. I do not find identity theft funny. I was laughing at Grizzlies response. He said call the police. Of course, everyone knows that you should call the police when you are a victim of theft. I was laughing at Grizzlies response, not at the fact that your friend is a victim of identity theft.

I had to point out the obvious, Rod.

Let's see, find the guy, beat him up, possibly get collared for aggravated assault and STILL be out a shitload of cash...

OR...

Call the police, get the guy arrested and restore your credit rating.

Tough call.

Grizz,

i conveyed the exact same point to my friend after the anger subsided.. (took a few min though!) those services should be only used when you cant turn to the law, no?

Has anyone else had similar experiences? What was the outcome, any advise would be appreciated..

thnx

Hope it all works out for your friend bro.

Been down this road myself, its not fun. Your life is on hold until everything is resolved, especially the bad checks, banks are quick to put you in there check systems. Where no one will give you an account for up to 5-7 years...

you wouldnt happen to be in NC would you?

Lol... I had the same thought.. I wondered if our Buddy Don had something to do with this...

It happend to me TWICE, because the cops just didnt look hard for the guy the first time... Didnt cost me any money tho... just alot of aggravation..

Call cops, call each credit reporting agency and request copy of report and have them put an alert on each account (alerts only last 6 months)
