Weak days....

Last time I trained chest was last Saturday, I just switched back to flat banching. Great day set a new PR. Today (Friday) chest day came around again and weight I was benching 10x for like 3 sets last Saturday I could only do once 4x today and hurt my shoulder doing it. So I just said fuck it and stopped training. I don't understand why this happens to me sometimes. I feel stong all day but as soon as I get weight in my hand I loose all my strength and become a 9 year old girl. The only thing i can think of is tues and wends I did arms then shoulders. so maybe they're still weak from that..
This ever happen to you? Do you just stop training or continue with light weights? I'm so pissed cause I really HATE quiting. :( :( :(

Totally normal. It's likely CNS fatigue. This is a warning sign of overtraining. If it persists for more than 2 training days, switch to a low volume routine for 2-5 weeks. Ie. 2 day split x 4 days a week, 2 exercises per bodypart x 2-4 sets each x 10 reps. That'll fix you and reprime you for growth.

You should be cycling volume anyway. I've started to think of my training just like dosing a drug that you become desensitized to. You can't grow all the time and make constant progress. It's more like 2 steps forward 1 step back (if you're doing it right). for most it becomes 2 steps forward, 2 steps back.

I have on/off days all the time as well. Its like you're pumped up all the way to the gym and the minute you step in the gym your totaly out of it and cant hit anything good. Then ofcoarse later that night when youre trying to sleep you have that rush of energy again ha. Ive tried a lot of things as far as timing of training or food. I havent been able to pin point it yet. I also get anywhere from 8 to 10 hours of sleep everyday and still find myself extremely tired the whole day everyday. So Im assuming we are overtraining. If I put off my routine for a week and get back into it I do awesome and continue to hit goals.

Interested to see what peole have to say Prodigy,

Can I be a smart ass for one second, I think its Thor weakening you. You need Jesus for strength.

PS. This is a warning sign of over training like Ramstein said,
What I do is cut short my bad workout when I realize "I ain't got it" and go home and eat/relax and go back the following day and do chest again.
If you are over training badly you might need to take 2 days off. Most common error people make is that there afraid to take a day off.

Totally normal to have off days. I can go in sometimes to workout and feel great and not lift so good . And the opposite , go in feeling like shit and lift good.

I def think it was just really bad CNS fatigue. I've started to take some days off and lowered the weight a little on my last couple of sets and I been feeling pretty good and acutally progressing better. I think the wheather had a lot to do w/ it too. Hot humid days I can't do much of anything. \

And I sacraficed a sheep to Thor and then he gave me the belt Megingjord which gave me a boost of strength. :) So in your face role model! Donnerschlag!!

Thats what I gave my wife for Christmas,
plus some leather goods,
a boot in the ass and a belt in the mouth.
