What are your women using for home defense?

Not sure if you’ve looked into any gun owners insurance but it’s a good idea to have it. I’m with USCCA and I pay abt 29$ a month and it covers my family if they need to put someone down at my house. The company does a lot for members in terms of self defense education, bail money if you end up in a situation you need to shoot someone, wage coverage up to 750$ a day for time out of work, attorney appointing and experts on self defense situations and ballistics etc etc
I live in one of the 32 states that have a Castle Doctrine or Law in effect. Do you think people in those states would be okay without the USCCA coverage? I know it only covers incidents within those states so traveling would be risky.

For anyone interested, I just had Tru-Glo night sights put on my Glock. Very happy with it in pure darkness.

I do as well. What you have to realize is that if you shoot for self protection you’re life can still be turned upside down. You are going to jail regardless, even if it’s justified. You’re going to need an attorney regardless, would you want a lawyer with no experience in self defense shootings or someone that is specialized in those cases? If you were out of work for an investigation would you have the financial means to cover bills and expenses in the meantime? Think of it like car insurance, you wouldn’t want to drive your car with no insurance , so if you’re serious about concealed carry then it’s a good idea to have some insurance. So what I have is the gold plan that covers me wherever I am, not just at my house. With that being said, it carries over to anyone in your house if they need to shoot in defense. It does not cover your spouse or child or they’re not in the house and out and about, for that you need to add them on at a discounted rate. But as for my coverage, it’s not just for a gun, if I had to run some motherfucker over in my vehicle it would still cover me. It’s definitely worth looking into, when I took my concealed carry class one of the representatives from the company talked about it and he had me sold in like 10 seconds. He said to me ,”Ok you just shot someone breaking in your house and you’re on the phone with 911, what do you tell them?”

I said ,”I just shot someone and need law enforcement over here now.” He then said to me ,”you just fucked up, you didn’t ask for an ambulance to show regard for human life and you didn’t hang up. The correct answer would be ‘I was put in a position where I had to defend myself, this is my address, please send law enforcement and emergency personnel here now, AND THEN HANG UP!! The entire thing is being recorded!!”

It was right then that I was like yea this sounds good for me. The educational materials alone on top of the coverage are worth it. I would definitely look into it

If you are in a self defense situation and end up in jail, these people have someone on a plane headed your way that night and put up bail money. You probably won’t even spend 1 night in jail

Sig p365 or Springfield XD-e 9mm
Home (all accessible in different rooms)
Roger SR-9c
AR-45 acp pistol
AR 300 BLK pistol
AR 50 Beowulf
and more...the liberal on the 1st page would be sad to read that they've never shot me or the misses.

What’s the difference between the hellcat and hellcat pro? I’ve heard a lot of good things abt this gun
The pro is larger than the normal Hellcat. The regular Hellcat is a tiny subcompact. This is 15+1, easily concealable, optic cut from the factory. Comfy AF. Pretty much the same size as my 6+2 single stack g43.

I’ve had this Sig Romeo optic for a couple months and finally put it on the AR yesterday. I honestly don’t know how I feel abt optics yet, I’ve never messed with one. I can see the negatives with it also, peripheral vision issues, taking longer to get on target compared to a decent set of iron sights, etc etc. just something new to try, nothing crazy just a Sig lower end optic I picked up cheap
When you test, share your opinion, it's very interesting.

I probably won’t be original, but for me it’s a very convenient barrel and very practical to maintain.
Idk, I can strip and clean and oil my sigs in like 10 mins. Occasionally it takes longer if I am feeling OCD and want to wipe away ALL the soot buildup, but not often. Never had a single misfire or FTE (well, I had one FTE but that was because I had a can with no piston on it so no shit).

I think A couple years ago they raised the defense attorney limit too, I believe jt is now unlimited. I have it too. Also it doesn't matter if youre in your house, car, in a store or on a walk. Whatever. If you were defending yourself then you get a lawyer and they will also bail you out if you live somewhere shitty where the cops take thebhomeowner to jail for defending their family. Absolutely worth the money.

I do too and I still have it. You just never know man.

And why not the Sig P365?
I love my p365. I train gun courses though so I am extremely confident in my ability not to miss with my handgun. I would generally recommend a bullpup shotgun for anyone who's not training regularly especially under stress. That changes EVERYTHING!

I personally am not a fan ofnthe bird shot as a first round. From a legal perspective there is no difference between a slug and bird shot. Lethal force is lethal force. Even shooting a WARNING shot the opposite direction is still lethal force. If I am gonna shoot I want that MFer down FAST. I am absolutely going to fire more than one round anyway, so what good does it do? All it does is potentialy give your attacker extra time to blast you back.

And guess what that does? In most states, if someone breaks into your house and you shoot them and let's say you disable one of their legs. They can SUE YOUZ FOR LOST WAGES, MEDICAL BILLS, AND PAIN AND SUFFERING. IIRC Florida is the only state where this isn't the case (it's been awhile though since I have looked). Sobyes, Castle Doctrine gives you the right to defend yourself (meaning not have to run away from your home and use lethal force to defend it) but that does NOT guarantee you won't be in court later on.

Even if you do kill the attackers the family can still try to sue you. But guess wat? Now the attacker can't go into court telling bullshit lies about how you were on a rampage and they were trying to back away and go out the door and you just shot them anyway while yelling racial slurs. Seriously that kind of thing happens. I'd rather have a death on my conscious and some therapy to do than have to have someone who broke into my home personally take me to court and lie about what happened.

Take that for what you will. But especially for anyone with self defense insurance, IMO just drop em dead.

Such a valuable thread.

A quick note- I’m attracted to the P365 just because it seems a bit smaller and easier to conceal. Hate to wear clothes specifically to hide a firearm

Hell, I even looked at that little switch-gun dealio.

If you're into small guns that conceal well, look at the Ruger Max 9. Barrel is 3.1", 12+1 capacity, optics ready, flat face trigger. I have one, and like it. Very easy to conceal.

I want the bird shot as round 1 because I want to at least catch their ass, of course I’m going to kill them, but I want to make sure I catch a piece or something just in case I’m off a little while half asleep. Birdshot at living room range out of just a .410 has more knockdown power than a .45 I’ve heard. I just want the fucker dead!!

And I’ll have all you guys know that I had a dream last night that I had to shoot someone in my house, thanks to reading this thread before I went to bed, hahahah

P365 SAS design for no snags. But the beloved sig irons are gone also…

I can carry my 365 easy.. if you practice drawing from holster and shooting and get a good kydex holster then the chances of a snag are super low. It's really just all about pratime and where you carry. For example I prefer appendix carry because a) it is faster and snags less, b) I can see if I am imprinting, whereas with back i might not know, and c) it is way, aay easier to just lift my shirt draw and then shoot either with one or both hands (always practice shooting one handed, with BOTH hands, you never know when your dominant hand might be out of commission and you gotta shoot using the non-dominant one. Being able to shoot both ways may just save your life someday.

I snagged a bit at the beginning but I haven't snagged anything in a loooong time and I shoot every week at least once and I go to the range monthly with my instructor friend and we chill and practice courses and stuff. It's a fun, friendly competition between us. He usually wins haha (I mean no surprise there 18 years training SEALs is an unfair advantage lol)
