Was just wondering how much training you could get out of 300lbs steel weights and a barbell at home. I would think that you could make good gains for a person that was just starting out or maybe anybody.Doing basic old school moves! What do yall think.
Look at the dudes locked up in PRISON.They have the basic old school weights and no local gym 2 go to.You got dudes going 2 the gym doing 4-5 machines for chest .There dudes in PRISON benching, deadlifting, squating 700+. So what is the better workout

You can do an awful lot with 300lbs and a bar. One important thing you can't do is bench press. I started with just a bar and weights. You can do:

Bent over rows
Barbell curls
Shoulder Presses
Dead lifts
Military presses
Lunges
Power Clean
Snatches
Front squat (if you can do cleans)
Overhead tricep extensions (just use a plate, not the bar)

If you add a bench and a squat rack (I know, it cost more $$$) you can get an excellent workout at home.
Many squat racks have:
-safety bars (for working out alone)
-integrated chin-up bar
-add on dipping bars
I eventually added a "cable station" to mine which allows me to do pull downs, cable rows, tricept pressdowns, etc. It was pretty cheap because it didn't com with its own weights; you use the barbell plates you already have. Cable stations with their own weights cost alot more.

Sorry to digress so much, but to reiterate; you can do a heck of a lot with just the barbell and plates. Later you can add a bench and squat rack and then you might not miss the gym at all...

A barbell makes a great coat hanger if hunged up properly. Weight plates make good door stoppers too.
