What is cross fit?

Ok Im sure im going to catch some shit on this one but if you ask me these guys an girls are no joke. I have seen the competition's before an they just fuckin look hard. Im not in the worst shape in the world an some of the shit they do IS FUCKIN HARD TO DO!!!! My hats off to all of the hardwork an dedication they have put theirselves through to accomplish their goals an victories. The only reason why I would bash on them is simply because I couldn't do it lmfao!!!!

ok you all can hate on me know, im ready lol!!!!;):D:p

Sure, they have some serious athletes. And I wouldn't hate on anyone tearing it up like that. Respect for anyone who goes in and gives it their all.

I think if you had a great coach doing good WODs, then you could achieve some great results.

But what I have seen of the average "box" culture is far from great. Disjointed, injury inducing programming. With a stuck up attitude to boot. Don't turn your nose up when you're doing deads for time and murdering your form.

I'd rather stick with intelligent strength programming, and wicked conditioning work on the side. Beat them at their own game, without ever doing a WOD. . .

But if crossfit works for you (without surgery), more power to you.

Aint that the truth. An have you seen some of these guys lifts??? Very impressive if you ask me. Honestly tue first time I ever seen one of their competitions I was in complete an utter SHOCK when I seen them guys throw up the amount of weight like they were. Straight fuckin killin it just to run off to another exercise an kill it again an again an again to the end. Could you imagine the mental an physical exhaustion they put theirselves through in order to make it to the end of one of those comps????

I mentioned it before in another thread, I have no knowledge of crossfit but it reminds me of some of the stuff you might see in the military in some of the special programs. Obviously, there is little to no weight training but you do go that hard and from exercise to exercise. This seems like an extension of that type of training. Then again maybe I am wrong.;)

Cross fit at a top level is absolutely incredible the top 2% of the guys and gals are in crazy shape and could out work pretty much anyone in a gym. The problem with crossfit is that we see the other 98% most of the time. The other thing is I don't find oly lifts to be the best suited for conditioning as they are too complicated to perfect while under severe fatigue. That being said bodybuilding is also only about 10-20% people who are actually committed and 80% hacks. I tend not to hate on anyone as long as you're out there working on trying to get better, I believe every gym and form of lifting should have 1 and only 1 rule: drop the ego lifting, in doing this I think everyone would get better gains and less injury.

Agreed. My main gripe with the crossfitters at my gym though is that they don't have any respect for anyone else working out. Instead of using the plastic, stackable steps for doing plyo jumps, they use the flat benches. Then they head over to the lone decline bench for sit-ups, instead of using one of the three ab benches. Then it's off to the pullup bar on the cable crossover machine for umpteen minutes of supersets of pullups/pushups. One day this guy asked me if he could work in on the pullup bar and he, literally, went for 5+ minutes of supersets of pushups/pullups. To top it off there was a guy waiting to do flies as well. It's not just a few of them that workout like it's their own personal gym; it's virtually all of them.

Crossfit is like Austin mini of the fitness industry.
It looks kinda kewl and neat, but it's not something you'd ever invest any time or money into over something like a truck or corvette.

;);););)

Have you seen the Austin Mini Countryman it's a pretty sweet ride AWD turbo charged 4 door or equate that to the top level crossfit guys
