Whats your view on Aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet Saccharin (Sweet'N Low, Sugar Twin Sucralose (Splenda) Acesulfame K (Sunett) Stevia (Truvia, PureVia,

I thought the glycemic index on some of these are worse then sugar though?
Nah, no carbs = no GI = no effect on blood sugar. The sugar alcohol based ones have a GI ranging between 0 - 12 on a scale of 100 while the lowest sugar is fructose at 25.

I think what causes people to potentially gain weight consuming artificial sweeteners is purely psychological. They eat the artificial stuff, it doesn't have the same sweetness release they expect for an actual sugar, so they are disappointed and go and eat something with sugar. Some shitty advertisement graph below shows how sucrose or high frustose corn syrup (in black) has a vastly difference sweetness release curves VS everything else. Just not the same experience if you are a true sugar addict.

I just can't get on board with this.
There is actually some pretty good evidence that artificial sweeteners cause some odd brain activity to occur and confuse some of our physiological processes. Such as insulin response, because the brain tastes sweet and sends the signal to the pancreas to do it's job--the only problem is there's not any sugar and no or minimal nutrients for the insulin to actually work upon so you've got insulin floating around and that is a recipe for insulin insensitivity....

If you read the article it is specifically saying high quantities of artificial sweeteners are bad, but when consumed in low quantities they are fine. I personally agree with this, however we for sure need better quality and larger scale studies. I consume 1, maybe 2 packets of stevia naturals per day. No problem there...but for someone who is drinking diet soda after diet soda non-stop, I absolutely believe that can disrupt metabolic processes and confuse the body and brain.

Iv had a single vitamin C&D tablet that is packed with dextrose completely halt my fat loss, once removed everything went as planned. I drink and use loads of zero calorie sweeteners. like 12 packets a day plus diet soda and about a cup of calorie free syrups daily and not have it effect me like sugar does. And my diet is the same every day. at this point id be a perfect subject to test.

It's just odd to me how I can freely cut and lose fat using so many calorie free sweeteners but as soon as I introduce sugar everything stops.

I would personally be concerned about 12 packets a day of sweetener+diet soda+syrups. It just seems like way more than is healthy for anyone, regardless of physical activity level. Sweet flavors mess with the brains reward system and I am in the camp that constant intake is quite bad for people psychologically.

Yournl experience is a little concerning to be honest. Perhaps your excessive artificial sweetener intake has negatively impacted your ability to process glucose (dextrose). How much sugar was in that packet you mentioned? That just seems like a really extreme response to what is probably a pretty small amount of sugar?

I looked and the label, it didn't say. trust me I wanted to know. you might have a point. Mentally tho I've never felt better. clear mind and I feel like im operating at my peek, honestly.

I use sucrose. Bought 100g of it and use a small amount in my protein oats, and intra workout, or anything I want added sweetness to. Cheap as hell, and zero calories. 50mg is equivalent to 30g sugar in sweetness.

I was wondering if these products cause you or others to gain weight, etc. I figured if anyone knows their bodies, its body builders. A lot of studies say people actually gain weight on these zero calorie products.
I have not eaten sugar for a long time and changed it completely to stevia. And I noticed that I began to crave sweets less and I began to eat less of it. True, the taste is specific to it, you need to get used to it.
