Sometimes I watch the news and every report is death or potential death or some fucked ip shit. Does anyone else get tired of this shit? My opinion is they want you to be hateful and constantly worrying about war and what the fucking president is doing. So I say fuck the news. Puff puff don't pass and watch something else :)

Have you heard of VICELAND the TV channel. That and the food shows is all I watch.

It's hard for me to strike a balance between taking in enough news to feel informed but not so much that I feel overwhelmed. Mobile devices and 24/7 cable news make it really easy to get lost. The gym is one place I can totally unplug from all that noise. Grateful for it.

I think people forget sometimes that it's a jungle out there. You look at the birds, insects and other animals and everyday is grim. Everyday they could die - be eaten or killed.

Nothing changed for humanity. We just had a bit of a break from all that but i think it's coming back.

For every story printed in the papers or played on TV, there are hundreds ignored. The media definitely skews the news to "guide" people toward a preferred viewpoint and emotional response. I watch just enough to get a feel for what they want me to think and how they want me to respond, which is usually very different from what's true and what's good for my family and me.

An example would be the way the local news has daily reporting of as much "gun violence" as they can find. The directed viewpoint is very very obvious: guns are dangerous, be afraid. But what I get from it is: guns are protection, be prepared. And even that is a little skewed, since the reported "gun violence" rarely happens anywhere I would ever go anyway.

Of course, if they wanted to push a slightly different viewpoint, all they would need to do is also report on defensive training in the area. But when they do report on defensive training it's invariably some moron teaching a room full of women how to stab a would be rapist in the eye with their car keys - and how to get themselves killed in the process.

Lmao that's the kind of attitude I like to hear. The news thrives on bad shit. You hardly ever hear em talk about the positives. That's why I have a weather app for my phone. Fuck the news. I cud give a shit less about what's going on in the world tbh. All I wanna know is if it's Gunna be cold, hot, wet, or sunny out lol

Youre alive! Where you been hiding?

Only news I don’t these days is on the general discussion board here and if someone posts something something on IG or my mountain biking forum and then I’ll google from that point so I’m not the least informed person on the planet but otherwise I live under a rock quite happily.

I feel the same way. My wife says I'm antisocial. I disagree I believe I'm quit the opposite. I'm very happy with my routine and my friends. I just count down the days until me and momma move to the woods in East Tennessee and retire! The type of place where when I see someone there's no doubt there trespassing. Hell some might even accuse me of hiding:cool: All I need then is for my boy @ickyrica to teach me some gardening and distilling skills;)
