Where the Metal Heads at?

My first cassette was Black Sabbath "we sold our souls for rock n' roll." Dad was an acid-rocker, mom was a flower child. Around twelve, when I learned that anger could keep me safe from the people that surrounded me, metal became the preferred catalyst for me to get in touch with my anger. When I was thirteen, my older sister came home talking about a band that she had just seen open for Skid Row...It was Pantera. They became my band, and I theirs. I still remember where I was when I heard that Dimebag died...I had to pull the car over to cry.

After the realization that I would never be able to see Pantera play live again, Lamb of God moved-in to fill the void, as best they could.

There are so many bands that have been influential throughout my life, but those three are foundational and my experience with any other metal band is measured against them.

P.s. these guys finally put out something recently, and I found this song particularly motivating.

Fing Boredoms rule! Discovered them when they opened for The Dwarves years n years ago, def roll everytime they play in town.
Japan can still hold it down, theres a sub sub genre of japanese dbeat still kickin.
Unholy Grave, Bastard, Effigy, etc
Paintbox still rules them all but their lead guitar player died of alcohol left a huuuuuuge hole.

All great bands!
Although, I still prefer Bastard to Paintbox. I know I'm in the minority there.

While we are on the subject of Japanese punk/hardcore/metal

And not from Japan but same style

Saw both of them play at a "house" show about 15 years ago. Craziest and best show I've ever been too.

Bastard is the shit but yeah, I still prefer Paint. 9 Shocks is still is heavy rotation on my playlist. Saw them in Chicago at a couple house shows back in the day too (still go to them every once in a while, place called Mousetrap is about 3 blocks from my house). Here is Hoax playing mousetraps 1st show a few years ago:
Went to their last show in Cleveland at Speak In Tongues however long ago that was.
Also a fan of Dropdead. Good taste, homie!

Just bought last Suicide Silence album before original vocalist got dead.

Worth a listen bro, I like them and I rarely get into new bands.

i know it isn't the kind of metal that you guys are posting, but for those that are fans, how do you feel about the new track Bulletproof, from Godsmack?

When i downloaded it, i thought i got a bad copy. Sully's voice just ain't what it used to be. Guess all those years of screaming took a toll, huh?
