Who here is on a statin?

I had total cholesterol in the 70 as well .. can't find any studies or information if having it too low can be a bad thing or not. Everything online is on high cholesterol never on too low cholesterol.

I said fuck it and went on with my life. Always had a very low total cholesterol and that's why my LDL is super low as well. Of course you can't have a high HDL etc if your total cholesterol is 70-80 xD
Cholesterol is a precursor for testosterone, estrogen, cortisol and progesterone as well as a requirement for neurological health. If cholesterol is too low, I would imagine there are a lot of negative effects, but I have no idea what is actually too low.

That's the thing...what is too low? No idea.

Btw high dose of vitamin C it's why I have low cholesterol that's my idea.

When I stopped taking 5gr of vitamin C a day it did increase but maybe was a coincidence it's not like I did a proper control study on it

Total cholesterol too low isn’t a good thing
You’re cholesterol is still important for your body LDL include
So you’re cholesterol is too low i would advise to lower the dose of your statin

Cholesterol as structural fonction in your cells, production of hormones like steroids for example , mental health too, your brain need it, and vit d is made from it

If i did a mistake i can get fired to the same extent as a pharmacist simple as that
A pharmacy technician is a pharmacist's assistant, no? How could the level of responsibility be the same for both jobs? In Canada the education requirements are completely different for each job.
I was looking into taking the technician program years ago and it was a 2-year diploma program that the average person could probably get through with hard work.
To become a pharmacist you have to be on another level altogether. Most people couldn't make it through the pharmacist pipeline even if they were given unlimited time to complete it. It's years and years of reading and memorizing material, doing chemistry and high-level math problems etc then they have to write licensing exams.

I know that isn't what this thread is about but this last thing you said doesn't make any sense. Make it make sense.

Yes i know a lot of my cowerker aren’t very smart they still believe that vit c can’t be taken at night

But they change recently that in France from 2022
But i agree that why i will continue my studies and then became one
But that doesn’t mean Because you’re pharmacist that you know more than me no
Its just different but at the hospital we have the same job
At least where i work
Maybe in canada is different i don’t know

For those of us injecting our sex hormones I'm not sure that we actually need cholesterol.

You inject corticoid too ?
Its steroid
Vitamine D too ?
You’r cells need choleterol my friend
Vitamin D is made by cholesterol? Have people with low TC been shown to have insufficient cortisol?

People who genetically have degradation of PCSK9 have shown us you can have astonishingly low cholesterol without many issues.

Especially among users who are abusing AAS, I’d lean heavily in favor of keeping LDL as low as possible.

Edit: Yes, vitamin D is technically synthesized in the body by cholesterol before I get “actually’d” but frankly most individuals get the majority of their vitamin D these days from supplementation anyway.

This is what finally convinced me to lower my LDL cholesterol as low as possible. There seems to be no concern here about actually "needing" LDL cholesterol for any necessary functions. In fact Dr O'Connor has been maintaining an undetectable LDL as in zero. And he's totally fine. Even if there are risks to going too low, the risks of letting ASCVD run wild by using gear and/or having unchecked LDL levels and low HDL levels far outweigh it in my mind but we all need to make that choice for ourselves. I'd also venture to say that many many steroid users who have abused the drugs for any significant length of time have some level of ASCVD beyond their age and most don't know it.

"Study suggests lower LDL cholesterol is better
A recent meta-analysis published in JAMA Cardiology suggests that it is both safe and effective to lower LDL below 70 mg/dL. The authors reviewed a large database of CVD patients with LDL levels averaging 70 mg/dL or less at the start of the studies. On average, there was a 20% drop in CVD risk seen for every 39 mg/dL drop in LDL cholesterol. In other words, a drop in LDL from 70 mg/dL down to 31 mg/dL was associated with 20% fewer CVD events such as heart attack or stroke."

Vitamin D = cholecalciferol d3
Did you get it with the name now ?

Just be logic my friend if an hormone is made by cholesterol and yours is low do you think you have a great chance to have optimal level of cortisol ? maybe not addison its premarely genetic but as an athlete its important to have it optimal

And it also present in membran of cells

So no i don’t think lowered as possible is good

See my above edit where I called that out.

As you note, it is also in the membrane of the cell - We are worried about up-regulating the LDL receptors on the liver which removes cholesterol from the SERUM, you still have plenty of cholesterol everywhere else and the data is incredibly clear on that.

It’s not because one doctor said it, that is true, Maybe on gear you can tried to be on a low reference range
But that’s too low

When we did recommandation , its also depend of the patient if he had an heart attack or not in the past
Then yeah for this people its right
Because of the balance profit / risk

But you should be careful with « low as possible »

I just tried to use several of those CVD calculators and only one would accept total cholesterol below 130. The one that did accept 95 mg/dL says I have a 2.9% risk in the next 10 years.

It’s not one doctor, that’s literally a link to a JAMA article?

I’m not sure why we’re even arguing about this, we don’t need to “use logic” about hormones or conjecture, it’s been studied extensively and we already have the answer, we don’t have to guess. You do not have to agree with it, but the evidence all points that way and I’m sorry you disagree. I’ll stop arguing though because clearly we are just going in circles.

Yes that mean you need it
Did you now that cell regenerate themselves ?
If there is no cholesterol do you think its gonna be ideal ?

Even your brain is 23% of the cholesterol in you body

And do you know that dementia risk increase with both low and high lvl of cholesterol?

So yeah maybe you’r heart is fine without it
But not your brain (memory…) Will drop with the time

Yeah absolutely cholesterol is useless for the body
You’r right the liver produce something that can only kill you ! Amazing
