Who here is on a statin?

@egruberman so we spoke some time back after I originally took an lp(a) test and my level was 185 along with some other lipid numbers that were somewhat high. After that I started ezetimibe and rosuvastatin and retested and lp(a) came back at 237 (expected since statins can raise lp(a). The rest of my lipid panel improved a lot. After that I added 180mg bempedoic acid to the mix. Currently I'm blasting 500mg test, 500mg primo, 1275iu hcg, 10iu hgh, and at the time of my latest bloodwork work I was also taking 100mg anadrol pre-workout for around 3 weeks. My lp(a) came back much lower from what I can tell and I'm wondering if this is an anomaly or am I reading the test wrong?

I knew i had seen this before. Your results are almost the same as the studied bodybuilders. Lpa was very cut down, HDL cut down, and Apo b much higher.

Good on you for getting Apo b tested. I was just listening to a Peter Attia podcast with a top lipidologist explaining how it's the best test for heart disease risk we have. Far better than LDL.

It's strange how they got a random group with such a high average Lpa. I was under the assumption that super high Lpa like yours was a semi rare trait. Do you know how rare it actually is? On that same thought process, I wonder if AAS use is marginally (relatively) less bad for people with high Lpa than for people with low Lpa.

I'm not sure if it's rare or not.

I was under the impression that higher Lpa would put you at a higher risk for heart disease and that it would be best to lower your LDL and apob with a statin to combat it. As much as I would love for my Lpa to be low like in my recent test, my guess is that it was an anomoly, considering Lpa is genetic. I will test again in about 6 weeks or so. My first two Lpa test were through quest and my latest through labcorp so I may do both and see if they end up being different results.

Hi !
So some not great news, i’ m now gonna start kidney dialysis in few months at only 24 yo. My creatinine is a 550 so its stage 5
My kidney literally break down in a year

And to confirm my statement about rosuvastatin who is not ideal for people with kidney problems
I got rhabdo from it 2 months ago ( i was about stage IV at this time) and was on 10 mg

Now i’m on pravastatin 20 mg and its better

I wasn’t very active here because of lot of problems from my kidneys recently a lot of acute kidney failure. I’m still at the hospital by now
Hope all of you are doing well !

Damn, sorry to hear that bro. Screwing the kidneys is literally my worst fear. What made you to reach stage 4 in the first place? I'm using rosuvostatin too but in smaller dose, 5mg x 3 a week. Did you have any signs before rhabdo? Extreme soreness etc.. Do you happen to remember how much your cpk was?

Thank you man, yes without kidney problems you’re good
Now i’m on ezetimibe and 20mg pravastatin
We will see how it goes

Hope i will be able to comeback to the gym soon and feeling good again …

What would be an equivalent dose of pitavastatin to 5mg rosuvostatin? That thing is pricey if it requires a hefty dose. 30 tabs of 5mg rosuvostatin cost me 6 euro from the pharmacy. I saw pita is going up to 70 euro if I’m not mistaken but didn’t pay attention to milligrams and number of tabs tbh.

2mg. 10€ / 30 in Spain for the generic. (Brand name Livalo is very expensive so always get the generic.)

Hi guys, do you think statins can be taken as prevention together with a steroid cycle?
Or do you think it’s better to only use them if blood values are off?

In my last blood test I had HDL at 35 and LDL at 107. I’ve never taken more than 200 mg of testosterone per week, no AI or anything else… diet not very clean and I wasn’t using any supplements to improve the situation. I haven’t checked ApoB or Lp(a)…

In my country, statins are demonized by pretty much everyone, so I never really considered this option.

They're demonized everywhere, because ignorance doesn't stop at borders.

Your LDL level is already higher than current guideline limit of 100 for people with no risk factors, and as a gear user you have several, which puts you in the sub 70 LDL target group.

Unless you want to keep accumulating plaque in your arteries, you should be taking something to bring LDL down. At least ezetimebe, but Eze +moderate Statin would be ideal and if you use Pita will almost certainly have no side effects.

You’re right, I should be using some protection…
Since it’s been more than 6 weeks since my last bloodwork, I repeated the tests yesterday while taking omega-3s, cutting calories quite a bit, and eating as clean as possible.
Considering that I haven’t done a blast in a while, and I’m not even sure if I’ll do one again, I feel fine at 200 mg of testosterone per week.

Would you take ezetimibe year-round without stopping, and maybe just add a statin during blasts? Or would you only use these drugs during periods when doses go up a bit?

Basically, I’d like to understand if these meds are something to keep in all year long… also, if they’re used for a few months and then stopped, is there any kind of rebound effect on blood lipids?
