This is too narrow of a viewpoint.

Just let those most fearful or vulnerable get the vaccine. If that is 50%, then so be it. Herd immunity will develop from BOTH the vaccine and younger, healthier persons contracting the virus and then being immune. Herd immunity does not have to come all from the vaccine.

If you go by the current # of deaths at 280K and current positive cases at 14 million the death rate is 2%. Still 280K deaths is too many, and mostly are of older people along with some kids and young adults.

If you also consider that the number of actual positive cases could be 8 times higher (news channels) than reported b/c obviously not every positive case has been reported. Well then you’re looking at over 80 million positives and still 280k deaths. .003% death rate. I agree 280k is too many, but I’ll take my chances.

On top of that I’ve read that regular flu cases are down roughly 90% meaning they’re all being diagnosed as covid.
Plus there’s plenty of false positives, the numbers are way off.

Lots of unknowns for me. I haven't read enough on the vaccines - mostly because I wouldn't believe them anyway.

Three things I would like to know:

* Are vaccine receivers ever contagious?
* Did any in the Pfizer trial die of CV19?
* What percentage of CV19 patients die of CV19 (not the percentage
who get CV19), and is that more or less than the number who die

Well, they say two were on the vaccine and 4 were on the placebo, but the deaths were not "due to" either one. They died from other causes in proportions no greater than the general population.

In other words, if I am testing a drug, and somebody dies of an unrelated cause, and that mortality rate among my population is the same as the general population, then the death is not "due to" the drug.

If I test my drug, and suddenly folks die of heart attacks at a rate 150% higher than the general population, then I had better start figuring out what went wrong.

When you have tens of thousands of persons in your study group, some of them are going to die during the study. That is just a statistical fact.

You are mixing apples and oranges here. The 95% efficacy rate is for any symptoms. For Moderna, the severe disease category was 100% effective. That is, nobody on the vaccine got seriously ill or died.

For Pfizer, the vaccine was also 95% effective with respect to symptoms, but not 100% effective against severe disease. Vaccinated persons were one tenth as likely as placebo subjects to get severe disease.

Please shoot back a question if I did not explain it clearly enough.

The 95% effectiveness number you are seeing in the media has to do with mild and moderate symptoms (like a cold) only.

Every time they show a photo of someone that died of COVID online the first thing I take note of is how many hundreds of pounds overweight are they. When a family of 16 gets the illness and 8 of the die it's almost always an obese family.

It's like Al Gore when they asked about the link of over population and pollution, he ignored the question(because of politics), it's an obvious solution to the problem, but no one wants to confront truth anymore.
