Worf's 1st meet log

If ever goes well I’ll be just about 20lbs shy of 600 in wraps on meet day. If I decide to do North Americans that should be there but time will tell

The way things seem to be going that definitely seems like a pretty realistic goal. Just stay healthy and don't hurt yourself.

I’m definitely getting out of the wraps after this meet for a couple months at least. Give my nerves a break from the overload. Give myself a solid training cycle in sleeves, throw a bit of volume in there, loose some of the extra Bw from the prep, get my Bp and blood markers back to normal. Then do it all over again, lol

Well I’m absolutely shot, lol. Knees hurt, elbows hurt. Went to the pt lady yesterday. Hip is feeling much better. Getting in the 90’s here and I’ve been working in a boiler plant so sweating buckets all day. Water cut is gona be interesting if I end up in a hot plant like that during water cut.

Conventional Deadlift

Been eating less and trying to keep Bw in check. Not feeling my strongest but that’s fine, don’t need to be for a deload. Skipped accessory. Getting hot here and staying hydrated is becoming a chore. Work is getting hectic, dodged a bullet last week and did not have a bunch of call outs. I have a feeling I’ll be working this weekend. About 2 gal of water today just for regular work and training. Water load starts Sunday, should be a shit show. Last heavy bench tomorrow, going over opener and probably work up to a second attempt. Ate big this evening, big serving of rice, chicken, peppers and ranch all over that shit, lol. Protein shake with fair life milk and rice cakes with peanut butter before bed. going into tomorrow fat and bloated for bench if I can hold onto it with the heat tomorrow.

Kh Front Raises/ Side Raises
10lb 3x8 each

Feeling kinda ragged, prep has caught up with me even being on blast. Took a lot longer and the progress was better but it still hit me. Coach thinks this is good that the fatigue hit at this point, should be rebounded just in time. “Second attempt” moved like shit the first time so took it again from a slightly lower rack height. Played around with this a bit, going to be un racking myself and I was pulling up my shoulder blades on the un rack. Got that sorted out and have a good plan for meet day. Setup rack height a tad lower forces my shoulders down more on the unrack and keeps me much more sturdy, and every little bit helps. As of now openers are In kilos 240/145/245

10lb 3x8 ea.

Worked on spotting depth, basically just opening my hips in the hole to drop the last few inches. Feeling tired. I suppose that’s good, lol. Started water loading today. Looking for 2-2.5 gallons by the end of the day and I’m almost there. Maybe get down a few extra carbs today as well to suck up that water. Been watching my weight closer this week so I didn’t have to end up cutting 15 lbs. and the extra energy just isn’t there. So squats moved really well last couple weeks especially last week when I woke up at 230 on squat day, lol. Difficult balance at this point.

Feeling kinda blah. Got a vial of test mixed up with a vial of deca. So accidentally shot 350 ish mg of test yesterday. Don’t know if that’s going to help or hurt? Lol! Probably won’t even show up until after the meet since it’s test cyp. Probably have to take a little more exemestane though, lol. Having some doubt here about my performance. Just been really tired and felt like my nerves were just about shot the past week-10 days. Even when my energy was decent the deload stuff felt heavier than it should. Went a bit heavy on the deload lifts compared to last prep but my training numbers are higher so it should call for it. Last few sessions felt off. Told my coach if I had to compete like that I would’ve been worthless. Hopefully we timed the peak correctly and every shows up Saturday. It did last time and I was just on trt minus a botched test p and ostarine run of 3 weeks at the beginning of the prep. I guess even if things aren’t perfect the test should dig me out of a bit of a hole.

Weight Cut/ weigh ins:

Did the water load/ taper thing starting Saturda. I was at 227 to start and by Monday I was 225. Body started to hold a bit of water initially with the taper but cam off once the water got low enough. Kept carbs a little lower than normal but didn’t totally remove them until yesterday at 4 pm. So I was taper water and carbs simultaneously and didn’t have to get too crazy with either. Yesterday Am I was 225, After work I was 223.5. Took one 20mg lasix in the am, another in the mid day and one in the evening. Did 2 , 20 min hot scalding baths in the evening . Each resulted in a 1.5 ish lb Bw loss. Went to sleep at 220.5. Woke at 218 and managed a piss pre weigh ins. Weigh in weight was 217. Been re hydrating and stuffing my fat face. Starting to get full, the stomach isn’t liking it.
Watched some of the competition, depth call for squats were on the strict side. Pretty fair on. Bench with the pauses but they wer not fucking around with butt pop or heaving. Every judge I saw today was either national level or world level. So I expect to be given nothing and to earn every lift.

I’m excited to see/read the results

Sounds like you'll have to be in your A game for this meet

You’re only taking 3 days before the meet? I thought 1-2 weeks was normal? Obviously idk how peeking works with the timing, just going off what I heard from Dave Tate lol.

good luck bro

Oh yea it doesn’t work like that at all. It was a complete mistake

Meet Recap (long post warning)

S: Wrapped 240(529)/250(551)/262.5w (578) PR (submaster State Record)
B: 145(319)/152.5 miss/152.5(336)
D: 245(540)/265miss/265miss(584)

So fucking train wreck of a meet. Squats were going great. 529, 551, 578. Got the state record I wanted on squats however the other sub master guys either signed up in the open or didn’t show, So I didn’t have any company in my sub class. is what it is , that record stood for 6 years and needed to go up! Not that it was so high or anything I just don’t think there’s many guys competing in that specific sub category in wraps. So bench warmups were feeling ok nothing special. Hit my opener and got a red from the head judge saying my elbows weren’t locked on start. I’ve widened my grip to Max legal width during the meet prep and really can’t get my elbows fully locked like that. So I let my coach know and he said “ they count where you start as your elected start position if it’s within the rules so just finish there.“ Ok no problem , I did exactly that. With videos to prove it and I missed the lift. Head judge red lights me again, Side judge too now. Side judge says “you’re not fully locking out “. So I explained what the head judge had said and he asked “ is there any physical issue with my elbows” Told him that I can’t lockout the way they want apparently with my hands that wide. I had a bicep tear last year on my left and I can’t fully extend it. He tells to just let the judges know. So I did and got all whites on my third doing the exact same thing. Probably had 347 or 352 but what can ya do? On to deadlifts. Warmups were moving kinda poorly tbh, I was fatigued. Not sure if I wasn’t eating well enough. I ate my normal foods In the Am. However Bench flights moved super fast so dead’s were at about 1-130pm and I had consumed a large spaghetti meal 2 hours prior, so I made the (possibly stupid decision) to eat pop-tarts and sour patch kids. I normally don’t do that but I figured that I just ate and to choke down another Tupperware of steak and rice I would either have to shit during the flight or I would puke it up. So took my 540 opener and basically smoked the living piss out of it. The fastest I had ever moved 540 on dead’s. So made an aggressive jump up to 584. A weight I had hit in training and wasn’t expecting to get beat by it twice. Lost it on grip at the knee and on the 3rd I lost grip mid thigh. Extremely frustrating to loose a deadlift on grip 3” from lockout. So I got the squat I wanted and didn’t fair well on anything else. Have to basically fix some stuff on bench and work on my grip strength for deadlift . Probably won’t do North American’s. Basically been in prep for the last 6 months, I need to act my age and take a break. If I do anything else this year it’ll maybe be a raw meet for a tune up late in the year.

I took 100 mg TNE when I woke up and 40 mgs of halo through the day. Never used that much halo before, 30 had been my highest and not sure taking 40 was any better than 30. Probably just do 30 next time

As long as you learn from what happened it’s never considered a failure. Just a lesson. It’s sucks to bust your ass that hard and only perform a fraction as well as you know you can perform. Rest up, rebuild, and kick ass

I always have a big breakfast with lots of carbs and then just snack all day at the meet on pop tarts, granola bars, beef jerky, and bananas. Light stuff since the body burns energy and uses blood flow to digest.

Congrats on the squat record.
Yea man, I really see most guys doing about the same at meets and many are much, much stronger than me. possibly a million things, just overall fatigue. I may have just blown my load on squats. I could feel
some lingering nerve pain in my hip and glute warming up deadlift. Been dealing with that for over a month now. By the time the answer is clear it’ll be in the rear view mirror.

Congrats on the squat record
Must be pretty awesome to have your name up there.

Sucks about the DL
But at least the judges gave you whites in bench once they understood the situation

nice job brother.
EDIT
Agree on the Halo
It feels like when I take too much, I get too intense and form starts slipping lol

It’s the first time I’ve benched that wide in a meet. Didn’t think it would be a problem, theres a lot of people who bench that way and it doesn’t really get called. Maybe it’s because my elbow is a bit dicey , maybe it was just judges being anal. Could work on elbow mobility. The pt I’ve been seen has worked on it and it’s actually better than before honestly. I just never thought it was going to be a problem. I can probably just bring it back in a few inches and avoid future issues or I’m gona have to declare it before every bench at every meet If I can’t fix it.
