Working at grocery store

So, I work at two different grocery stores for the same company. One in the morning and one in the evening. I gotta say that I'm not to thrilled about either store as the customer base leans towards grossly overnight, rude and slovenly type people. The kind that spit on the floors and leave full carts of food randomly thru out the store. Needless to say when it comes to sneezing or coughing /yawning there isn't a covered mouth in sight.

Early yesterday morning I started to feel like I am starting to get sick. Developed a minor cough also. Will see how I feel later today before rushing to the ER. If I don't by chance have the Covid virus this time around I don't see how to avoid the stuff while working. No paid sick time either. Grocery stores are are gonna be how this virus continues to spread. No stopping it IMO.

My shop is very close in proximity to a grocery store like that and the public bus stop these gross mfrs come in not gonna buy shit just walk around the whole store don’t make fucking eye contact touch everything cough in everything and on there way out say “later fucko” (this is usually the upset with the world homeless or close to homeless)

I had a fuck come in deliberately touch and cough on everything all on drugs and shit mad at the fuxking world because he lazy as fuck I seen him be takin in a crown Vic for shop lifting in the center. Touching everything yelling “ I’ve got corona and not you and all your fucking customers do to mother fucker hahahahahahahahahahahahaha” that fuck.

false. You have 80 hours of paid sick time that your employer has to honor. The funding is coming from the federal government and your employer has zero options when an employee gets sick or has another qualifying reason such as the inability to have children supervised if you go to work, etc.

Know your rights.

I may walk this statement back a step or two. Your employer is not required to follow this if they employ more than 500 people. I am not entirely sure if that employee count is a hard fast cutoff or just a regulation marker, meaning are employers allowed to pay and file for this credit despite having more than 500 employees? Or do they have their hands tied and can not file for the credit under these rules?

Emergency sick leave legislation exempts Kroger and other large employers
On Friday, the House of Representatives passed emergency legislation to address the coronavirus pandemic. The legislation immediately grants some workers the right to ten working days of paid sick leave. Workers can also use the leave, reimbursed at two-thirds of their wage rate, to take care of children whose schools have closed. Under the legislation, part-time workers are entitled to the same leave for the number of hours they typically work in a two-week period.

But employers with more than 500 employees are exempt. (Employers with less than 50 employees can also apply for an exemption.)

The original legislation, introduced by Congresswoman Rosa DeLaura (D-CT) and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), would have required "all employers to provide... 14 days of paid sick leave, available immediately at the beginning of a public health emergency, including the current coronavirus crisis." But those provisions were stripped out at the insistence of the White House, which negotiated a "deal" with Congressional Democrats. Now, around 80% of American workers are not covered by the paid sick leave guarantee.

It's clear that Congress will not require companies with over 500 employees to provide ten days of paid sick leave. But the companies that refuse to do so are putting their employees and the public at risk. And we can hold them accountable.

That's why Popular Information is starting the COVID-19 Corporate Accountability Project. If you work at a company with more than 500 employees that is not providing immediate access to ten days of paid sick leave to full-time workers — or the equivalent to part-time employees — please fill out this form.

The results of the project will be published in future editions of Popular Information.

With everything going on it's hard to stay up to date with the most recent changes in legislation, even more so for those of us still working. Their is certainly a lot of benefits floating around, and no shortage of savy investors and accountants finding creative ways to implement in some means other than intended especially with the small business loans. Seems to me this is just another scenario where the rich get richer and the poor...well. I did see an interesting interview with Mark Cuban in which he was saying although good intentions we are seeing this change in unemployment benefits at the state level, small biz loans, and stimulus package being far too cumbersome to navigate and provide relief quickly. When pressed what he would do different he alluded to just letting Americans overdraft with protection. All essential ACH transfers and autodrafts for rent, mortgages, car payments etc would continue to process timely. Americans could then essentially have an additional $1200 to cover items such as groceries etc per the stimulus, and small businesses would continue to pay their payroll without furloughing or laying off employees. Then banks get reimbursed by the fed for the losses for carrying the debt. I was pretty impressed with the simplicity of the idea...he's been on a lot I wonder if he has some political aspirations up his sleeve in the near future.

I also read an article about how they are considering bypassing the private financial institutions and creating a fed bank website with a US treasury back digital currency. Everyone that filed taxes last year would get a login with the name and SSN to the fed bank website. Stimulus funds would be directly deposited into each account, but unavailable for cash withdrawal. US companies would have to recognize the new digital currency and Americans could make free online transfers to other citizens and businesses. Wondering how if implemented this may in fact help legitimize other digital currencies in the marketplace? Pretty fuckin wild times we are living in...

I've always seen him say no to a political career but recently said he wouldn't say no to the idea. I think he phrased it as "the people need a hero" but stopped short of describing himself as that hero

Working at grocery stores is high risk now

Either you should spend some $300 - $500 on some top quality N95 masks (and have several masks, one for every day of the week, keep them in plastic bags near a window so the virus degrades itself by the next week,

Or you should quit altogether
$1200 gov't money ain't that bad.
You can survive on that.

Maybe if they were handing that out every week or even every two weeks. A one time payment won't last for shit.

Not sure what state you're in, not even sure if it varies by state, but here, if you quit your job, you ain't getting unemployment benefits.
I thought they were $1200 a month, doesn't it?
IDK. Fortunately, I still have a job although I'm working less hours now.

That $1200 (for single folks, more if you have children) people are waiting on is a one time deal unless this thing lingers on, then we may see a second round of payments later down the road.

Unless you have a minor child at he who's school is cancelled then you can sign up for paid family leave through your work and get up to 2/3 salary

God bless brother you are on the front lines as well. My father had the virus he’s fine now but had a fever and a minor cough for 2 days

I've had the virus for six days now. Fever is gone but the coughing has been terrible. Blacked out twice from continues bouts of coughing. Today I haven't coughed much but when I do I can here the nasty congestion slopping around in my lungs. Shit is almost impossible to hack up!

My pops would boil a pot of water then put it on the table put his head right over with a towel over his head a breath the steam to loosen it all up

Wow, hopefully things will continue to improve but be wary as things can change at the drop of a hat with this. Get well brother!
