I should have just claimed I was a trans man tbh. They would have let me through for sure not even joking.
On a side note candian cells are pretty nice. I kinda wished they had let me stay the night. Instead I have to drive back 4hrs across the state in the middle of the night

Don’t ever ever try and cross a border with gear. I would suggest ordering off a UGL once you get up there.
They have flagged you and will scrutinize the heck out of you if you try and enter again. Yes they will conduct a forensic examination on your cell phone and go through it. No they won’t get a warrant and won’t need one. I’d damn near suggest a burner or factory reset on phone

Just to be clear, a detention is an arrest. It appears some are confusing arrest with charges. Not the same thing. Even being booked in the jail is not usually the same as being charged, which is something a prosecutor decides to do later.
Even detaining you without handcuffs and then releasing you is an arrest. That arrest may or may not result in charges later.
Even an arrest warrant is not a charge.
Most folks (and reporters) screw up all these terms.

The absolute dumbest thing about your post is you actually seem surprised. What on god's green earth made you think they'd find illegal drugs, just take them and let you be on your merry way?
Do you have even a miniscule clue of what would've happened if you were caught going the other way going back into the US? Just a shadow of a fathomable clue? Do you like federal prison? Or being a felon?

Update I made it in, border guards will chill this time, was pulled aside for secondary inspection but didn’t take too long and after they searched my car again I was on my way yes I was stupid but glad they can forgive me
