Ass to grass vs. Parallel squats

Nobody I know who claims to go Ass to ground actually touches their ass to ground. So wtf call it that, I go well below parallel but my ass doesn't touch the ground so I won't call it ATG. Anyone who claims to I would like to see videos of them touching there ass to the ground with over 400 pounds.

grass height =/= ground height...

Unless we're talking about putting green grass, I think it's safe to say that grass is typically a few inches higher than the ground.

Unless this was a troll post, in which case lol

Yes it was a serious post, Ass to ground is what I've heard it called not ass to grass. And people who claim to go that deep usually are not much deeper than a few inches from parallel. Many people over estimate how deep they are actually squatting. Body weight squats are one thing or light weight but with serious weight it is a different matter.

This post doesn't warrant a response. But... Check out Klokov, he's touched the ground on snatches with 400+

@raysugar1234 I get what you're saying man. I've personally never in my life heard it called "ass to ground" until now. It's supposed to be called "ass to grass", I don't think anyone can actually touch their butt to the floor on a squat.

And many people that say that they go ATG don't go much lower than parallel. Some go much deeper and it qualifies but unless you can Video your self or do it in a mirror it's hard to tell.

My rule of thumb is TOP of thigh goes below parallel. At which point my butt is in between my heels, A2G.
I doubt anyone has ever tried to go ass to ground... At least not on purpose.

It took me some time to get to where I could squat very deep. When I watched myself in the mirror I noticed that I wasn't breaking parallel by much but I thought I was going as deep as I could. I lowered the weight and just worked on my form and now I go very deep. I prefer to go as deep as possible compared to just breaking parallel.

Yea, thats as deep as possible for me... here's a perfect example of a high bar A2G squat, IMO:
