A Southern Yankee's Winter Blast

you can keep your high carb diet and I'll keep my protein and fats ;) nothing you say will change my mind on this. energy not used is turned to fat. what is energy? carbs and fat! protein is the building blocks! I'm not against learning something new. what you are trying to tell me is wrong. that is why my mind will not change to your train of thought.

This isn't my own concoction or my own fringe theory, it's just simple fact.

Care to explain how I am wrong? I guess it doesn't matter.

I can post up articles and postings by renown experts in the field of nutrition related to sports / bb'ing who are working with top level athletes, I can post up countless citations for my claims, I can share countless of my own personal experiences and the experiences of others I know, but I don't think it would matter, I would still be incorrect, right? ;)

I try and aim for 450-500g of carbs a day, while aiming for 4200 total calories per day. 500g of carbs is only 2000 calories. On a 4200 calorie diet, that leaves a load of roam to fit in lots of protein and fats.

If I attempted to train the way I do on a low carb diet I would probably fall to the floor mid workout and start crying in agony. You know what will build a lot of muscle? The amount of work relative to intensity I can do in the gym, powered by my high carb diet.

I missed quite the interesting discussion in here...

I'm not sure where I picked up this thinking, and I think everyone around here knows I train for performance and know very little about strict dieting for the purposes of BB'ing especially in regards to cutting. However, I've always kinda operated under the line of thinking:

Proteins + Amino acids are the building blocks of muscle, and help our tissue recover and grow. Excess protein is excreted, there can be some negative effects on kidney's from an overly excessive protein intake long term.

Carbs are composed of sugars and starches? (glucose, sucrose, lactose, etc...)
Carbs are "fuel" and a major contributor to our energy levels. Athletes will often "carb-load" prior to strenuous bouts of physical exercise to increase performance. I was always operated under the assumption that carbs not burned during physical activity were stored as sugars in the body, excess sugars intake will indeed contribute to fat gain.

How one prepares vegetables, for instance, can impact how the body processes the carbohydrates contained in them. If the cooking process sieves out a lot of the fiber, the plant sugars become more accessible to digestion, and this can drive up postprandial blood sugar/insulin levels. On the other hand, if veggies are prepared to preserve fiber and to minimize accessibility of polysaccharides to digestion, the implications for blood sugar/insulin should be markedly different, at least in theory.

Sooooo operating under this kind of general assumption it always made sense to my why a NFL player would have a huge bowl of pasta the night before a game. Or why a BB looking to lean out would cut carbs by 5pm to make sure they were burned and not stored.

Not very scientific..but it's the redneck rundown.
looks like I need to consult a dietician

Ya pretty much TEK.

If you wanna get real red neck about it. I only eat veggies so I can shit. True

Plus you can eat a ton of veggies and they'll yield very little cals. Filling you up with out weighing you down.

To be clear I say veggies like green leafy veggies or green beans type shit

you also believe .75g per pound of LBM will yield great muscle gain. I do not believe that research either, but you still have that to throw at me too lol I'm not against carbs, but carbs are not what builds muscles or anything else. protein builds, carbs are for energy only, fats are for hormone production and energy. I love modified ketosis diet. you take in enough carbs to get you through your training.

I'm with @weighted chinup with the fact I could never do my workout on low carb diet, I'd hit the floor.

That's why I pick up 80lbs of sweet taters in one shot, so I munch on em at 5am on the way to the gym. I basically always have a sweet potato in my truck cup holder.
Dinner I usually try to stick to my protein source of choice and cruciferous vegetables. I will try to cut back on my carbs and starches a little for my last two meals especially when I'm home for the ladies

When I'm working hard in the heat and still training 6 days a week....shit man I gotta go high carb or I feel like shit and shrivel up like a prune. I basically always carry a lil fat around the gut though, power belly (at least that's what I tell myself)

I never said don't eat carbs. I said carbs will make you gain fat. than we have to get into this big pissing match to prove me wrong lol I'm sticking to carbs will turn into fat. I know TEK needs a lot of carbs for what he does. I know I would be eating a ton of carbs in his shoes, but I would be eating a ton of protein and fat too.

It all boils down to complex carbs vs simple carbs vs junk carbs as it pertains to possible fat gain.

I personally believe YOUR body needs a specific amount carbs, protien, & fat to function normally. The amount of which one you need more or less of depends on your activity (goal).

I believe (in my mind) the body needs a specific amount of carbs to sustain energy. Carbs are also help fight off any muscle catabolism. If your muscles are NOT in a catabolic state, you should either maintain or grow muscle mass.

I believe excess of anything is not good for the body, whether it's protien, carbs or fats. If energy is not used to burn.... whatever......it will turn into fat

There's nothing in this world that can mimick the body. No machine or such. This is why I hate hearing "The body is a machine!" Quote. The body is an a fantastic thing to study.

Chest day/biceps

First bicep day of the week. Today is a planned deload session. Been too many sets recently. Gonna scale back a tad.

15 sets chest
6 sets bicep

Guillotine press
dumbbell flyes
machine flyes
incline dumbbell press

Not necessarily in that order

Preacher curls ez bar
concentration curls

4 sets calf raises thrown in cuz I skipped them a couple days ago.

Thats pretty much it...

Im gonna pick up some dawn dish soap. The blue kind. Got a tip from PI22 about using it to clear up acne. Mostly arm and shoulder acne that just won't go away. Running out of options. I dont really want to get medicated up

Sweet thanks TEK.

I got a total 5 hours sleep. 30 minutes at bedtime came right off the top for fuck time with the wife. Again 30 minutes immediately after waking about 0300.

She knows what she's doing :)

Comes to bed naked. Puts her ass and hips right in my groin. What am I supposed to do? I was dead asleep but I felt that shit! She takes my hand and rubs her tits with it. OH ITS ON!!! Nice part is after all these years she's all business. A little foreplay but she wants the Wang in the worst way;). Just skip the introduction and get right to the main show. Mmm love me some pussy

HF is right on so many angles here. Reality bodybuilding isn't so much down to the science of training or drug protocol. No its strictly finding the right balance in your diet. The lesser of all evils among the three is obviously protein. But even then of course too much will throw you off in this balance we all try to achieve.

Why don't we all walk around looking like arnold? because even though we say we are disciplined to diet when it comes limiting ourselves to carbs, we really don't. Also when we try, we consume them on the wrong time. Listen life on the run is no joke, we can't live strictly on a time schedule when it comes to sleep and eating. (at least I can't, and don't ever recall meeting many differently).

Truth is carbs should be limited and kept at this for your best results. From operation to appearance. This is where we are all different and the place we need to find harmony within our balance with diet.

I can't function on so little sleep but can't neither on too much sleep. The perfect cutoff time for me is 6-7 hours. Anything less or more and It will turn into a pretty shitty day.
