The bodybuilders of today look freak but no bodybuilder now would top the conditioning, dryness, hardness and posing routines these men brought to the stage in the 90's.

Flex Wheeler. I can't believe he never won the Olympia. What an incredible physique. Definitely freaky.

In '93(Flex Controversial 2nd) he came in the best shape of his life but that was the year Dorian Yates brought new standards on bodybuilding.

'99 (Flex Controversial 2nd) Coleman was just unbelievable, if you go on youtube and put Mr Olympia 1999 Backstage you'll see what i mean.

I can definitely see what you are talking about man. He really had some tough competition. This video blew me away. A Real battle between Ronnie and Flex. Ronnie with that conditioning is unreal.

1999 was a great year, everyone was so dry and hard and conditioned, we probably wont see a Mr.Olympia like that ever!

Flex's loss to Dorian in 93 was the death-knell for the sport of bodybuilding. It hasn't been the same since. and continues to move further away from mainstream sensibilities. A shame. Just a fuckin' shame...

I agree, but in that year Dorian brought something to the table no one has ever brought. The judges were surprised. He might have killed it with the insulin abuse through out his years. But in '93 he was in crazy shape, no injuries..nothing.

The only year i believe he should of lost was in '95 when Kevin Levrone was in the best shape of his life. I don't know what the judges were thinking 'cause Dorian had a tricep/bicep injury that year, i'm guessing he won from the back, that was always Kevin Levrone's weakpoint.

In 93 Dorian was massive, yes. Aesthetically pleasing? No. His gut was too thick and he lacked the sculpted look that had become the hallmark of bodybuilding. Posing? Gimme a break. Flex was a black Baryshnikov on stage that posed absolutely effortlessly. Dorian looked like a developmentally disabled Neanderthal in comparison. For some reason the judges that day thought this new look Dorian presented was good. As a result bodybuilding went in a direction, that as I said before, is increasingly alienating it from the mainstream. Economically, for the sport and the athletes that is not a good thing in the long-term.

You have a point here!

One of the greatest physiques of all-time.

One thing that serge nubret was known for was taking 6 months out of the year off from bodybuilding and looking pretty average and would grow into a show when resuming training.Great genetics.

Not sure if it is true or not but kevin levrone was also rumored to be another that grew into shows and took complete time off during the year. His body was a perfect sponge for aas and great genetics as well.

They all had great genetics ...

Serge' body could have used that extra rest because of his high volume training ...

He also ate once a day
and 4lbs of horse meat at a time and I read all over that he never used gear .. I'm serious on that too
