Gotta bend over for dips to hit chest effectively. If you do traditional dips in the upright position it becomes a tricep exercise.
Absolutely! To work chest properly whether on bench or dips elbows must be flared or away from the body.Also, correct me if Im wrong, but elbow position is important. I was always told if they are tucked while doing dips it works better for tri's and out focuses more on pecs.
