Yeah this is complete bs, if there's any real argument i'd like to see some sources of studies. Although i'm not one to argue or start an argument, just saying.disagree.
The funniest thing is people are fixated on Protein when Carbohydrate consumption is really what the should be concerned with post workout. I guess it's the combination of "Bro Science" and marketing. People stopped buying protein shakes with carbs after the low carb diet craze so most formulas changed to accommodate. I can see drinking a protein shake to buy you time post-workout to prepare a complete meal but as far as being optimal...no way! Restoring your glucose levels is far more important to jump start recovery. Try adding dextrose powder to make your protein shake a better post-recovery shake. Food is always better and supplementing more then 25% of your daily protein intake is just insane. Hell, let me see if I still have the consumer report of a bunch of laboratory analyzed protein powders. You would be amazed at whats in them as far as metals and other toxins. I remember some of the absorption rates being really bad as well. Please experiment for yourself with tuna packets and hard boiled eggs instead of shakes.
