100 rep sets

a dude at the gym recommended 4 or so weeks of it. I nodded in agreement, whilst thinking he was crazy. I've never done it before, but there's a lot written on them to break a plateau.

Any experience with such high rep sets? Some talk about only doing it with 1-2 muscle groups at a time, others recommend whole body. I'm interested in trying something different so why not... I'm thinking a basic split routine something like this to see how it goes Training With One-Hundred Repetitions!

Tried it. Blew up my tris. But i would do like 150 reps not all at once m but in segments and as many reps as i could do at one go. Break, then go again. You want to do it at the end of every workout for a month.

I think this thread invaded my subconscious today because i did aomething whacky that i never do

Standing side lateral gauntlet
30lbx10
25lbx10
20lbx10
15lbx10
10lbx10
5lbx50
100 total reps, done consecutively, just enough time in between to grab the next set of DB's

And then at the end i did

Preacher curl machine gauntlet
125x10
110x10
95x10
80x10
60x10
50x10
40x10
30x10
20x10
10x20
20x10
30x10
40x10
50x10
60x10
80x10
95x10
110x10
125x10

For a whopping 200 total reps, these were done consecutively with only 3-5 seconds rest in between and a 15 seconds rest at the bottom of the pyramid.

Didnt know why i decided to do it today, i had forgotten about this post, but now it aaaallllll makes sense lol

Got a sick pump though

High volume sets are sick. This is a workout I do for chest. All super settled no rest until c is complete. Wait 20-30s and repeat

A) bench 10 reps at a good weight
B) incline db press at a good weight
C) push ups 10-15 reps
Rest. Repeat 10 times

The rest part is to sort of look yourself in the mirror. Wonder wtf you're doing and go back in anyways. It's not a straight 100 reps but if you do little to no rest it feels like it

Only ever seen one client do 100 reps. An 18 year old I trained trying to go nhl. Squatted 135lbs for 110 reps. Was sick

Only 2 workouts in so far. Chest, tris and traps on day one. Back, shoulders, bis day two. Going to hit quads, hamstrings and calves next. Rest. Repeat.
3 exercises for the large muscle groups, 2 for the smaller.
First round it's hard to determine what weight to go. So far hitting about 40-50 straight up, then pushing through to 100 in sets of 10-15 with 3-5 seconds in between.

My grandpa does this but as a full body. That's a ton of volume, to use through, for me it would be to burn out and for physique. Let us know how it turns out.

High rep sets are really great for endurance/boxing , but not so much for increased muscle size/strength . The body quickly adapts to low weights no matter how many reps you do . Depends on what your goals are .

I like 10x10 GVT much better . Im doing 10x3 right now and loving it . Give it a try sometime...(The Waterbury Method)

That's why you only do it for a short time. Most people who do it go for a month then back to normal routine.

And thats great for short term . I deload all the time . I never do 100 reps , but I did when I was losing weight several years ago . I had no excess to weights and did bodyweight only squats & push-ups/chins . I was doing 25,50 & 100 rep sets . I also do this on Alaska bush jobs when theres no weights around in the woods.

10 sets are great like a 10x3. I also do 40 rep sets quite a bit. Like a 5x8.

Although I do use that method actually probably once every so weeks.. Say I'm doing some curls.. grab the cable 10x10 pump then leave .. Or chest cable press.

I like a blast of high reps after a good heavy session. Just to get a good pump going at the end. Fill those muscles with a mass amount of blood. With arms I always do an occlusion band set at the end. Super light but burns like crazy

I read an article once that showed that the body only remembers the last weight that was lifted . I try for my body to remember it was 300-400+ lbs ;)

I don't know about that. My raw bench is 500. On heat day I always finish with a hiit style training combo and I've never had issues always pushing big weight

In saying that tho I would like to read that article, see the logic behind it. Not saying it's not true, intrigued by it if anything

Yeah I dont know about that article . Probably written by more "experts" that dont even lift ....I use to always do pump-outs after heavy sets , somewhere along the line I stopped doing it much .

I might give this a shot after I get back to cruising . Looks like it might go great with low cal dieting . Wouldnt do it over a month or so then back to heavys , or alternate both every 2 weeks might help shock the muscles and stimulate fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers .
