Why are good chests Rare?

I see alot of people with natural horse shoe triceps, round balled biceps huge traps but so many people do NOT have a nice chest ?
Look at this chest, doesn't sport or bodybuild lol just skates ._.
 
Oh, you mean just what God gave him without working out. I don't pay attention to people at the gym because most of them half ass it. If you are average and workout hard your chest would surpass that in 6 months. Even with that chest those 12in arms aren't helping.
 
Good chest might be rare among those that do not work out. It isn't rare amongst those who work out consistently especially with the intention of bodybuilding and not 'just to stay fit'.

IMO, good chests are rare because people don't usually like to do flyes, and they particularly avoid dumbbell flyes. If they DO go for dumbbell flyes, they use an infamously improper form. And they do too much of their chest work on machines. Plus, "good chests" require effort to balance the pectoral development. That means you might have to put extra effort into lower pecs, or outer pecs, etc. Not many guys do that unless they compete.
 
One of the best ways I found over the years to build a GOOD chest was after you have a good base, do more incline press then flat. Add to the incline dumbbell will bring in all the stabilizers and secondary muscles. These incline movements with a high angle will tie into the front delts. Maybe you can see how it tied into my shoulders. Well maybe?

I agree. Too many people are glued to the flat bench for vanity.
Incline bench press used to be my least favorite exercise, now it's one of my favorites.
As @Thenewera says... your upper chest can never get too big
 
I think bad chests are related to poor form. I can relate as I benched for a couple years without much luck but finally noticed I was using too much delts and wasn't really focusing on the eccentric movements, just the concentric contractions. Learned to pinch my shoulder blades together and slow the movement. This has helped me more in 6 months than the previous 2 years.
 
I have long arms and have been benching 425+ for 20+yrs. Inclines do NOTHING for my chest with my long arms, it hits my delts. I've benched with different grip and rep ranges over the years and do dips. I'm 6"2" with a 6'7" wingspan. Everybody has different structure and leverages. You have to find what works for you. Some people have strong delts, some triceps, and some have strong chest.
 
That's what I said... that the incline bench will tie in your upper chest with your shoulders. At that point when done at a moderate angle as oppose to steep it will fill in the flat area that some have just below the collar bone.

It is common knowledge that we all have to find what works for us. Most important is the mind to muscle connection and feeling the muscle intended.
 
Curious as to what your guys opinion is on the decline? I've been skipping the flat and just been hitting incline & decline recently

I never use the decline as my shoulders don't like it and I don't feel any more contraction than using a flat bench.
 
Decline can add to overall size however shows less results after a good base line. It will sharpen the bottom of the chest more so after it is built.
I never did much but then that's me.
We always have to consider working all sides of a muscle n group but some like to focus on more of works with their physique and lacking areas.
 
Look at your physique and have someone critique your body. Then do what is needed more. However I have learned in my career the guys that did more incline had a better look. I am talking about BB.

I do dips and decline bench because i don't have lower definition (I'm very lean and not at all fat just trash genes). Don't worry about decline bench just finish your chest day with dips.
