Layne Norton on training

What was your rx dose? They started me at 140mg/week, bloods to see where I'm at in 2 weeks. I don't know how long I'm going to do this.....seems really expensive when I could self med easily enough.
I started at a trt clinic. Ignorant as all hell. That was the ONLY reason I started cycling. Because once I became educated, I was like hell. Might as well you know? The fucker had me all over the place and honestly wasn't much better than I felt as a complete low T natural. It was 100mg every 10 days. Then he'd change it. A fucking joke

I do it myself. It's far cheaper and I don't have to dance to their song

As I'm sure your cruise does had some impact on strength and mass, training had to be a huge factor as well. Especially at such a low calorie intake. I hope to not even get down as low as 1900 calories as I have in the past and it's not fun

I've seen you progress in @weighted chinup thread which as you stated has some of the same principles as this program. Your strength progression is quite impressive actually.
You have to show up everyday if at all possible. You will be sore. You will be uncomfortable. But you will obliterate plateaus this way. After you beat yourself in to oblivion for 6 straight days. Take your rest day and your fatigue will have dissipated but your fitness will come back better and stronger. Pound away

I've seen this program mentioned many times and I'm really interested. Do y'all think it would be beneficial during a cut to try and keep strength and muscle mass up? Also been looking at one of his newer programs PH3: Layne Norton's Power And Hypertrophy Trainer, Program Overview
Code:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ph3-layne-norton-power-and-hypertrophy-trainer-program-overview.html
but think it would hold more benefit while on a calorie surplus than deficit.
I have ran PH3 with very good success. I was on a maintenance phase at the time so i cant comment on how it would be with a cut, but even on maintenance calories it was pretty brutal. Id say give it a try though. Good luck

I'm not trt but I do understand that everyone's bodies are different and feel different at different tt levels. I bet it has to do with what your tt levels were steady at when you were younger. I think you should get your levels to 6-700ng/dl and truly assess how you feel and self medicate. Doctors seem to put everyone in a one size fits all category! Really seems they would rather put you on psycho meds so they can get their kick backs from big pharma!

Only problem with above statement is more than not people wanna feel like superman and think test is a fix all and way over do it!

There are BB docs. 2 of which I was directed too from...a...um...gym acquaintance o_O who give more liberal doses. 500mg a week and such. It's a massive area I live in and plenty of known BB train here ;) can't be too damn hard to find your way. I just prefer the freedom of self dosing. No unexpected labs to run. No fear of having your script pulled. The only good thing I figure would be to have a legit rx for it if you ever was to get caught

For sure.

Skimmed over it a few times but actually read it this time.
I like it. Will try it when I'm all healed
I'm doing some thing similar right now. I will go ahead and say you'll like the program! I know you value your performance as much as you like the "look" . These programs have both. Right up your alley boseefus:D

Ok, I have just tried this, after reading the completer article. I thought this is exactly my goals.

Three days in, wow am i sore as hell. It feels good knowing I have worked my body hard. It doesnt feel Injury sore, just good old fashion DOMS
Looking foward to day 4 tommorrow

Hell yeah!! That's what I like to hear... making me more and more excited to start this.
Keep killing it!

@pitbull how's the Norton training going? I have lost some size when I switched to PL and want to get back into a BB routine but the power I have is great. Looking for the best of both worlds.

Its has been going great, It allows for big heavy PL movement to keep strong, which is what I want. It also has a good amount of volume to keep the rest of me looking great. I had been doing a PL workout for last few months and was unhappy as well with how I was changing. It is only a week or so but is definitely hard as hell. It is a very well thought out program and I am confident will provide results

Nice, this very well may be what I take up next. Balance between power and vanity is a good thing haha.

While I think Layne is incredibly smart in terms of training and especially nutrition, in my opinion he is too arrogant. I've seen people question him and give total unbiased lashings at the person "questioning a doctor" calling them idiots and such. And while I think IIFYM is great for the average person in the gym, or people not trying to be absolutely shredded. How many IFBB pros claim to use IIFYM? None, well I know of one bikini competitor. But that's a different ballgame.

I did the originally PHAT routine on my first cycle and made great progress. But a lot of that can be attributed to the gear.

so I'll look better in my two piece? ;) I'm really thinking about this plan, but as far as gym guys go I am more of a regular dude than a pro, no doubt! I'm just getting started so one day I hope I can look at something like his plan and feel the way you do!

I think Layne is a decent guy, I have seen him in person before and his physique (at the time) looked fairly natural. Now go back to his bodybuilding days, I'd have a hard time believing he didn't use some form of PED. He is extremely intelligent and makes the scientific language of bodybuilding, power lifting, and exercise physiology/human nutrition in general easy to understand. I've always been interested in the science of bodybuilding and Layne definitely makes it easier to understand. However, I just have a really hard time believing this level of conditioning holding that much full muscle is anatomically attainable naturally. Only he really knows.

Ok, y'all definitely peaked my interest in this so I'm starting the PHAT program tomorrow. It looks laid out well. I'm hoping it isn't too brutal of a transition from the typical bro split. Hopefully it kicks my ass tho.

yep phat that's what I knew it as when I did it a few years ago. power hypertrophy adaptive training, or whatever it stands for.

it's a great routine, I will try it again once I can commit to it. haven't been able to get to the gym 5 days a week lately like I used to.

may still have my old gym log when I did it, have to dig it up.

off memory I think Monday was upper body power, Tues lower body power. wed was a rest day, Thurs day chest hypertrophy, Friday leg hyper, sat back hyper (?), Sunday rest.

eventually, I believe the reason I stopped, I was doing too much on upper power, and burned out or hurt my shoulder I forget. but, flat bench, plus military press, plus weighted dips, plus weighted pull ups proved too much for my shoulde girdle.
