Ill make a few points. One of mine is probably more realistic than most peoples because i lived it.
- slavery of blacks from africa was much bigger than america. We were actually one of the last countries to buy slaves from africa
- africans sold their own people as slaves. Its not like countries invaded africa and then enslaved the people
- im a reformed racist. Thats right i was. I hated anything that wasnt "pure" white. Why? Because i was broght up that way. I lived in a small white town in the sticks. We were taught to hate everyone. Looking back at not only what my parents, friends parents and older friends told us about blacks. Its sickening. Its truly sad that people can be brought up that way and given no choice on how they can feel about others.
All my friends that still live there are still racist as ever. What got me turned around? Culture variety. I moved to ny for my job. Spent a lot of time in the city exposed to all nationalities and colors. It opened my eyes to the ignorance of my upbringing.
Im not ashamed of how i was brought up. Not like i had a choice. I am grateful however that i was able to break free of such hate.
Yes racism is real as fuck. I still know hardcore racists back home. I feel bad for them that they couldnt get past it. Unless youve lived in it or around it your view of what a true racist is is probably inaccurate. Be happy you never had to know it
