21 day water fast!

Hey guys,

Im thinking about fasting on only water for 21 days. I've done some research, and I've read the body will go into ketosis on day 3 or 4. And the body will not even be that hungry, and the tounge will turn white. When true hunger returns it will be felt in the back of the throat and the tounge will return to being pink and that's when the body has run through natural fat stores. I also read, that the body is also detoxed, and is cleansed and rebooted in a way that can do things like even alleviate high blood pressure. It definitely seems like a hardcore way to run a cut. And i think I may attempt it.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Have you ever had an eating disorder or been severely underweight?

Just a hunch. This is not a healthy mindset.

Yes, I've had an eating disorder and been under wieght, sometime ago in my past. But I'm asking this question academically, and also with possible intention of applying this method of dieting.

this doesn't sound healthy at all, dont do it

I agree with your recommendation, just curious how you figured OP out on the first guess?

I've coached people who have previously had an ED.

It's relatively common. In my experience it's something that stays with people, not the disease itself but some of the attitudes towards food. So you learn to spot trends in thought patterns. There's no shame in it but awareness is key.

For academic purposes, I would like to add that ideas like this may not only remain in those whom once had an eating disorder or who do, through patterns of thought as @JC456 stated similarly, but also that these ways of thinking may be triggered in certain predisposed individuals, when negative affective states such as Depression arises.

For me personally, I noticed as my depression began to flare up, wierd ideas like this one popped in my head. Alarmed by my interest in the idea and almost ashamed to bring it to the attention of friends or relatives the first place I took it was to mesorx.

I'm very happy that @JC456 reached out, and thanks for helping me realize, that this was not a good decision under any circumstances.

Also after a little thought, I would also not reccomend this idea to anyone. It's very dramatic, and odds are if you're ever to consider it there are other issues in your life that probably should be addressed. And for me that would be pyschologically.

Impressive my friend.

My wife and I tried a 7-Day water fast about 2 weeks ago. Made it only to day 3... I lost a total of 5 pounds when it was all said and done, meaning after I got back to eating and gained all my water weight back. Bench press went up from 315 to 335 so no strength loss.

21 days is pretty extreme. I would lose over 30 lb of fat so unless you're morbidly obese I think that's crazy. I feel amazing after my fast though, the mental clarity was beyond anything I could expect.

Denying the body of food is very healthy! That's what fat stores are for! Don't listen to the masses they don't have a clue! Jesus fasted for 40 days. Denying the flesh strengthens the spirit!

I've heard of this, but have never found or spoke to anyone who has tried it.

It often gets a bad rap, but so does DNP and thats a good tool.

Personally, I'd try it and see.
