Do you have to bake sesame/ grape seed oil or will a syringe filter be enough?

Sorry I’m new to this and I’ve read a few home-brew recipes/ instructions and none say to sterilize the oil. If I buy normal grape seed oil from a store will the syringe filter be enough to sterilize the oil? Or am I going to fuck up really bad lol thanks

The syringe filter is what sterilizes the oil. You don't bake it. You can heat it up a little to thin it, or help dissolve the raws. But too hot and it'll damage the filter.

Thanks man. That’s what I thought, but I wanted to make sure, I am going to run my first batch in a few days.

Its a 22 filter , right? Some peeps use the .45 and bake the oil in the vial.
You need atleast .22 to safely sterilize your brew . Certain Bacterial spores can still pass through the pores of a .45 filter , and baking it doesnt sterilize your brew unless your using some serious heat at which point your taking a risk at damaging the hormone to some degree .. just for 100% certainty your best bet is only using enough heat to get the hormone into solution, then taking the extra time and filtering through a .22 filter ...

You can possibly get away with filtering through a .45 filter 9 out of 10 times , but that one time is all you need to fuck yourself up ! Just not worth the risk to save a little time imo..

You can gravity prefilter store bought oil
you need a funnel and paper filter. Some even use coffee filters.
This only removes particulate matter that might clog the sterile filter, 0.22 um.

Exactly.

Thanks for the advice I’ll try it

Well it was a success so far I was going to do 100 ml but did half and it was probably a good idea. Anyway test cyp 300 mg no pip no infection lol and it hasn’t crashed! We will see how it does as of results.

Didn’t see your post but yes it was a .22 filter.

So how did it go with the store bought oil?

I am preparing something soon myself and was checking in to see how the store bought worked.

If I'm using a .22 filter and there is no need to buy sterile GS oil then that would save a few bucks.

I get my MCT oil from a supplement store and have used GSO and safflower from the store before too.

Do you get the "now sports " mct oil ? If so thats what i use too other than when i use mig , but if you look on the bottle it actually claims to be pharmaceutical grade , gmp approved 60/40 mct oil .. its cheap as dirt too , i think i pay 20$ w/ tax for a 950ml bottle .. I bought a bottle of mct off of a med supply company for about double that price thinking it would be higher quality , and it was shit compared to the cheaper now nutrition oil actually .

You arent joking brotha ! I love pretty much everything they make , and they sell the most reasonably priced products on the market imo . I honestly dont know how they dont get more recognition then they do . But i honestly think its just marketing , they dont have the shiniest flashy labels and they are cheap so people just assume they are shit ..

Sterilizing oil ain't necessary
but if you're truly paranoid
you'll need to heat the oil to 150 C forat least one hour

Dry-heat sterilization of parenteral oil vehicles.
Kupiec TC1, Matthews P, Ahmad R.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evalutate the effect of temperature and time on the dry-heat sterilization conditions of cottonseed, peanut and sesame-seed oils used as vehicles for parenteral drugs. The three oils were inidividually spiked wiht Bacillus subtilis spores and exposed to dry heat at four temperatures (150, 160, 170, and 180 deg C) for three different time intervals (one, 1.5 and two hours). Following inoculation and dry-heat sterilization, samples were placed in a laminar airflow hood and processed according to 71, "Sterility Tests" of the USP XXIV/NF 19 using thioglycolate broth and fluid D. The specimens were then placed into an incubator at 30 deg C and observed for three, five and seven days for bacterial growth. All tests were performed in triplicate. Positive and negative controls were conducted with each group. All three oils were found to be free of viable Bacillus subtilis following dry-heat sterilization at 150, 160, 170 and 180 deg C for one, 1.5 and two hours after incubation for seven days. The positive controls had no observed bacterial growth. Dry-heat sterilization of the three oils at 150 deg C for one hour appeared to be sufficient for time and temperature conditions. However, the authors recommend dry-heat sterilization procedures be validated for each product.

Make sure you don't overheat the oil so it won't degrade.

Very well any grape seed oil will do just filter it first you can buy syringe filters but idk how easy that would be for prefiltering

I know this is old but didn't want to start a new thread for 1 question im going to get the now mct oil do i have to pre filter it before I brew with it or is it ok to brew everything an it gets filtered wen filtering an filling vials at end
