Where the Metal Heads at?

Hating on Metallica for 30+ yrs of music is like hating on the sun beating down on us, lol. Of course things are gonna change. Not many relevent acts out there make it 30 yrs. Even less of those same acts write there own shit from start to end *cough* hetfield *cough*. That alone is impressive. Hating on them for being extremely rich and content. The music changes when your no longer drunk, high, hungry and pissed off at everything. The worst thing that can ever happen is to become civilized. Either that or just be another dead rockstar. All my favorite bands went thru this genesis. Everyone of em.
Of course things are going to change but after the black album they just took a completely horrible direction, in my opionon and many others. I don't hate Metallica, i just don't like what they've become and represent now.

I probably know over 30 full Metallica songs on guitar. Solos and all. I've seen them live more then I can count and I know there history pretty well.

They're the equivalent to a big pop band now and don't you deny that. I have mad respect for James "the right hand man" Hetfield and Kirk... but the way they write and produce things now is a big drama or like some big movie production.

The first 4 albums are legendary and NO ONE can take that away from them.

The only consistent thrash metal band of that time is probably Slayer. I mean not mentioning the more underground bands.

There's nothing wrong with not liking a band anymore. Same as for you to continue to like them.

But let's try to be unbiased and see things how they really are.

Pop band man? Fuck. I dont get it. Hetfields lyrics are still dark and extremely well written. They still play 8 minute songs. They still have screaming guitar solos. I dont get it. What pop band or modern rock band does that sound like?
None. Not one.

I liked the black album. And load...and reload and S&M and garage inc. Only one that is universally hated is Saint Anger. It was terribly produced and generally unenjoyable to listen to.

Ozzy doesnt sound like the old black sabbath days. The sound has completely changed. Just like 'Tallicas did. But nobody ever mentions that? I would propose thats because enough meatheads keep repeating the "metallica sold out line" it just becomes embedded in the culture. I would submit to you its just nonsense ppl spew. Alot like what happens here in yesteryears broscience that continually gets struck down by logic and science. Its just good music man

Heard this on a college station this morning.

Straight outta Jersey City bro! Quick fact- the lead singer of Ill Nino (christian machado) has been using the former lead singer from Drowning Pools mic and mic stand since he died of an OD many years ago....i can say ive seen these guys a dozen times...or maybe many more...favorite song is Fallen and Cleansing.....nice find @Ickyrica :)

Oh shit, feeling like I'm back in a band now. Miss kicking my brain in sideways every night and playing music....
Lets take it back to the late 90s hardcore scene up your way....Friends Stand United...i think they were called...thats going back awhile

Oh yeah, the fsu crew. We referred to them as fuck shit up. If you went into the pit at their show you were going to get get knocked around like you read about. Complete chaos. Doesnt matter, youre getting an ass kicking and you'll love every second of it

The north easy used to have an unbelievable hardcore scene. I played in NJ once btw.... trying to remember the name, want to say 'park' is in the name. It's been a long time...

Thats it!!! Fuck shit up....

Thats the ticket! We played a metalfest there back around 2000/2001? I think?
Around that time, there was a knockoff version roaming PA/NJ called East Coast Destruction or ECD. A bunch of BMX/straight edge guys trying to do the same thing....i dont know how long that panned out tho...short lived, nonetheless

Theyre classified? Times have fucking changed....holy shit
Yeah man, that little music scene grew into more. It's wasn't as crazy as a MC or anything but legit non the less. I didn't know either until I saw the wiki.

Im pretty sure most of the time they just beat the hell out of everyone, I know they wouldn't be involved in drugs or any of that. Guns, well that could be another story. Maybe it was just the shear volume of 'members' and the constant violence that drove the classification?

Remember the big black X they would have on each hand? That's how i learned straightedge was, talking very early 90s here. I think that X may have been watered down over the years with emo fags and the like.
