Brolloks getting into PL

@Brolloks How's the battle going?

Apologies for the radio silence brother. We've moved home, which was more taxing than usual. I carried a million boxes up and down stairs, shortly after straining my right inner quad. So didn't train for a few weeks, and just felt depressed in general.

I tend to lay low when I'm cruising anyway. The good news is that I've had time to reevaluate my goals...

So...I'm working with a PL coach for the first time in ever. Before we met for our first session, I told him I wanted to focus on benching 462. I've ground out a touch-and-go 440 previously, but abandoned going there again because I picked up too many niggly injuries.

Last week I did 352x10, so it wasn't really a massive jump in my mind. But when I had my initial session yesterday, the dude basically told me my form on the bench was completely shit. Which is good :) He's convinced I can get to 520 by pulling back my shoulders and tucking in my elbows, so lettuce sea.

After that we will correct my squatches.

Good shit man. Slow and steady, you know the drill

Not much to report here. I'm on week 2 of a 6-week bench press peaking program. Top sets were 3x4 @375lb yesterday, and the goal is 460-70. Actually hoping there's a novice raw comp that comes close to coinciding.
You have some power on the bench huh? Good shit man. Trying to get over 400 myself. You think 500 is in your future?

Not at my age bud! 500 in the 45-49 year old class would put me close to the national records down here. I'm pretty sure I could get there in a bench shirt, but have no ambition at the moment. Although things could obviously change (I've got rubber arms), the next focus will be on getting my deads up to scratch.

You and I are real close on bench. Im 6'2 290 at the moment. I got 460×2 about 2wks ago and almost had the 3rd rep. I just did 8wks of the Bulgarian method and it worked awesome for my bench. You should have a peek at it. Unfortunately I hurt my sacroiliac so Ive had to be careful with heavy deads/squats until it heals. Im 49yo.

Did 9 sets on the bench this morning, with the top two sets for 3 reps @ 405, which was the end of week 3 of this: 6 Week Russian Powerlifting Peaking Program

I'm only doing bench and 1 squat day though, rather than all 3 lifts. Because old and wussy.

In other news: I got on the gym's scale this morning for the first time since getting on the program and blast. Weight is at 328 o_O I might pull back on the npp a bit, because I always blow up on it and higher carbs.

Was going to add anadrol but no. At 5'11 and mid-40's I don't need a degree to realise it's not healthy to look like a shorter version of Eddie Hall :D

420 is my favorite number. Congrats on the big numbers!

Thanks bud ;) This week is a deload, thankfully. My 420 session went like this:

Set 1 - 10 x 90kg
Set 2 - 8 x 110kg
Set 3 - 5 x 130kg
Set 4 - 4 x 150kg
Set 5 - 2 x 170kg
Set 6 - 2 x 180kg
Set 7 - 2 x 190kg
Set 8 - 8 x 150kg

Hoping to get to around 210kg next Saturday at the peak of the program, which will not be in a comp - nothing local coincided, and I haven't trained for proper paused reps anyway.

My pecs, wrists and elbows need a break.

Managed a pretty easy ~440 today and attempted 460. I almost managed to lock it out, but didn't want to push my luck. This run was just a feeler to see where I'm at. Moving on to deads next week because fucking sick of benchpressing. Never thought the day would come :D

Also time to drop some weight and get on a cruise ship.

Damn dude, you got some good size on ya

Mostly fat. This was this morning, at 330#

I've been told I look like a small Eddie Hall as well as a fat Eric Lilliebridge :D Can't say I mind either description.
