Kratom anyone?

Nice, do they use it for anything?
They just kind of chew it like a coca leaf. The youngsters are starting to heat it with coka cola of all things and drinking it like a tea. I chewed one earlier didn't notice to big of a difference. I may try two leaves next time. It's totally illegal over here, so gotta be careful

This isn't correct. Heroin withdrawal can be deadly. Kratom withdrawal MIGHT make you a little restless. It's similar to caffeine withdrawal actually.
I’ve heard it’s comparable to coming off a codeine habit. I think caffeine withdrawal is putting it way too mildly. Heard way too many horror stories about coming off Kratom to believe its as mild as caffeine.

I based that post on a researchers comments however, I've heard about some horror stories also since then.

Until there is more study, it's just a discussion on anecdotes. With that said, I do find the horror stories hard to believe.

The horror stories could be exaggerated, but take this into consideration. If this stuff is effective enough, for a hardcore opiate user to take some, and not experience withdrawal from heroin, oxy, etc. I think it’s reasonable to believe it could have some pretty serious withdrawal symptoms of its own. Otherwise, this shit would be a well known miracle cure for opiate addiction, ya know?
“Take Kratom to quit heroin, and once you stop the Kratom, it’s like coming off caffeine!” That just sounds too good to be true unfortunately.

You're telling me that it's not possible to die either directly or indirectly from heroin withdrawal? I feel I've read about this before and find it more than plausible, not sure I'm I'm missing you on the semantics.
I would agree with @Eman, depending on the seriousness of the withdrawal and the situation the individual experiencing the withdrawal has the ability to cause death. Someone may experience a heart attack when in withdrawal, and yes they would die from a heart attack. But the heart attack is brought on by withdrawal. Not saying heart attack is a opiate with drawl symptom but used it as an example

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is that kratom is crap. Anyone with am addiction problem should NEVER touch this. I struggled with opiates and uppers and avoid this like the plague. Actually have a brother addicted to this stuff now and struggling to quit.

I agree, methadone and suboxone are both approved methods to use in order to wean someone off pain killers and or heroin. Both are extremely addicting. More so in some cases than the heroin itself. I know first hand. The difference is methadone when taken properly doesn’t give off a euphoric feeling, and juts takes away the craving. It really is a miracle drug for addicts and saved my life. But the second you add xanax or a benzo to it, there is a euphoric feeling brought on that literally slaps the fuck out of any other opiate. I found the key to moving ost addiction was to find something that works whatever it be, hold on to it, and use it to help yourself create a better life and by doin so ween yourself off of that. Over time and it may be a LONG time but you will get to a point to were you just don’t need it anymore as long as you lesson your intake little by little. This doesn’t work with Heroin because no one knows the exact dose of morphine content in it. This is why methadone hs worked so well. Little by little you lower your dose. No one became an addict over night, so it’s krazy for people to think that someone with an addiction can just stop. Even if you are incarcerated and you have an addiction problem. TheY provide medication for withdrawls.

I agree, that's not a bad way to look at it. But still, a heroin users entire world revolves around heroin. That doesn't seem to be the case at all with kratom users.

Personally I don't think it's a great idea for a lot of drug users to begin using kratom to get off of something else. That's what's too good to be true, breaking an addiction by subbing one drug in for another.

I think kratom has better potential for chronic pain management and addiction in some circumstances.

Got clean and sober 5 and a half years ago. I have absolutely no regrets in doing so, even in spite of it really sucking for the 1st few months. Just me personally, I can't use any mind altering drugs in any way shape or form and I'm ok with that. I've tried substituting one drug for another, drinking beer instead of hard liquor, etc, etc , etc.. In the end, it all eventually lead me back to the same place. I am in no position to judge anyone, but i sincerely wish that people would put more effort into recovery..Its something that if given a chance, you'll never regret doing. Can't even count how many people I've seen die from addiction. I realize that nobody is dying from Kratom, but if it eventually leads you back to something that will kill you...is it really worth it?? Best wishes and God bless

I’m a recovering heroin addict. I’ve done kratom many times and never felt the need to do it again. For me it was similar to a cup of coffee. Helped give me a little energy and mood boost. Unfortunately I didn’t know about Kratom when I was withdrawing off heroin. Had to do it cold turkey. I’ve seen Kratom help people with chronic pain and use it to taper down off large daily doses of opiates. It can be a good tool if used in the right way and don’t see it being as addictive or damaging as opiates. And even though Kratom works with the brains opiate receptors it’s still not an opiate. Correct me if I’m wrong
