Dumbell ohp vs machine ohp

i assume u could work with both but realistically would mass and strength suffer from using machine ohp over dumbell

Never mind. I can’t do machine I just don’t like it as much. I’ll just lower my dumbell weight since incline and flat and dips and flys are before it. I c can’t start off with delts either I get pissed about thinking my chest didn’t get a good workout. And I don’t wanna do any volume to make up for less intensity I’ll wuit going to the gym, I can’t do that volume shit

NEW question: if my dumbell OHP is weaker if I do it on bench day, then realistically I’m not losing any mass gains because they were already prefatigued from bench etc right??

I could do that as well but I’ve been using dumbells for stabilizers as well, why do u like barbell better?

I feel like it hits your delts harder because you can use a lot more weight.

Dumbell OHP is a fine exercise, but barbell OHP produces better strength gains in my experience. For pure hypertrophy they're about equal.

I'll generally do seated dumbell press on my incline bench day and standing barbell OHP on my flat bench day.

I think they were a couple of studies that supported that pretty much any dumbbell variation is much better when it comes to muscles activation for shoulders. Here is the one I recall [1].

The main caveat of using dumbbells is that there will most definitely be a cap of how much you lift, instead, increasing the weight with barbells is a fair bit easier. From a hypertrophic perspective though the 'caveat' of dumbbells could easily be addressed by volume manipulation.

Awesome thanks
