I’m torn and I’ll probably get laughed at for this.

Yeah, face to face is the best. If somebody's a hooker, fat, ugly, stupid, or an ahole you can figure it out in 10mins. This goes for men and women just to be fair.
I've got women both face to face and online, they're all crazy. But I like playing with their boobs

We born alone... We die alone.. All the time between these two events is so called 'life'...
All You have is 'Yourself'.... You have to live your life on your own.... No Mother, No Father, No Siblings, No Wife, No Friends, No Relationship is gonna escape you from 'Yourself'.
ALL YOU HAVE IS 'YOURSELF'.... FACE YOURSELF and EMBRACE 'YOURSELF'.

You actually do die alone, and are born alone. Having a dying need to be with someone and are not happy by yourself, is a mental disease that will leave you depressed. The fact is, all you have is yourself.

I agree on the being born and dying thing, not that it matters. But life is a rich tapestry of ups and downs filled with relationships with other people, good and bad. And Marcus Areulius wouldn't have bothered conquering a continent or leading an empire if he had thought that way.

True. But at the depth at that quote, he realized that at every moment all you have is yourself. Take a deep breathe and always remember this.

I think what he means is that the only thing you control is yourself. He and other stoics always preach about worrying only about the things you can control. He's not saying that other people aren't important. He's saying to not concern yourself with things that are out of your control. In that sense, all you have is yourself and until you can manage yourself effectively, you won't be able to manage anything else effectively. It absolutely does not mean 'fuck everyone else'.

I didn't think he was implying that at all, and I'm not offended by his take either. But a true stoic is a monk, what's the point of that, and I don't believe it's possible to not react to people and you're surroundings. I try, with mixed success, to enjoy as well as live, the one life we have

On a lighter note, What do you think of the rational male. I believe it de programs a lot of wrong thinking, and has a strong element of stoicism in it

I’m a practicing stoic. To have complete control over ones mind, and emotions is very powerful. One of the key stoic points from the rational male, is that you have no control in how people feel about you, including a women you want to be with. You can buy her things, use seduction techniques, whatever, but you have no control over ones feelings. It’s liberating to adjust to this mindset. To have control over your own life feels powerful, and makes you alpha. I feel, especially in today’s world, you cannot trust anyone, or put much hope into other people. Call it monks as you will, but putting your energy into the mess of a world and people is exhausting. I have seen men kill themselves over a women, not being in control of themselves. Monks are aware of the end, death, and their is no escaping it. Life is full of interactions and relationships with people, and if you study stoicism, you will find out that they are advocates of being social, hell, Marcia Arelius was a fan of drinking and socializing. They are very nature based, they promote family, and children, because this is what nature intended. A main focus of it is being in control of yourself things out of your control are of no concern. Cheers.
