in my youth I had no problem dropping that shit. I go up 50 lbs and see what I had in me, if i couldnt get it I'd let it come down on those shitty racks make all sorts of fucking noise. Stopped the gym in its traks a few times. I know my body better now and dont make huge jumps in weight and wont attempt somthing im not 97% sure I'll hit. Make small jumps in training, 5% or less when you get close to that PR territory. Better physically an more important mentally to hit 395 and feel like you got 5-10 more pounds than to miss 405 and doubt yourself for the next month.
