I have to say, this is true, from my own experience.

I'm still cutting since February, but its the leanest I've been, maintaining the most muscularity during any cut I've done. It's taking longer, but I look way better than I have in the past.

I recommend this method for all of us who are not pros or competitors, since we have no reason to rush our fat loss and make things more complicated. In fact, I posted in my log that I have been binging last two days after a month on clen. I now realize this must be because it's time to take a diet break and eat a maintenance for two weeks.

I have been cutting since the beginning of the year, maybe a little earlier than that. As weight stalls, add a "supp", cut more calories, add more cardio. However eventually it just stops, and short of eating even less, spending hours on cardio machine nothing will work. Dropped 30lbs from last meet weight and 20 to 3x to go. 6 week stall and nothing moving, maybe some recomp but nothung appreciable. Reverse dieted back up to maintenance calories, cut the cardio in half and the weight started dropping again. Staying at maintenance for 6 weeks before I restart my cut to finish the cut by end of the year. Plan is 1yr cut, 50-60lb cut. I went up 20lbs in weight class for a meet, and want to drop weight classes to compete lighter next year.

I sometimes find it difficult to find a balance when I'm going to lose weight, I start dieting and start doing more cardio, do more and more cardio and cut back on food. This is what mania and addiction.

Exactly, for the 6 week stall I was getting stupid with cutting more cals by skipping meals, adding more cardio. I swear I cam close to setting my stationary bike on fire. Then listened to some wise ones steer me back to reality. Eat more, cardio less and take a break, 6 months of cutting 30 plislbs dropped I needed a breal.

I started my cut Feb 10 at 240 and the lowest I got was a few days ago at 213, so that's basically 25 lbs in 20 weeks and five days. Granted, most of the fat I lost was in the beginning, and now I'm losing it slower. I'm probably ~15% bf and I'm going to need to take more measures to keep my metabolism going... So far in the last few days eat more calories, my digestion has improved dramatically, which it got weird the last few weeks.

Sure, if I busted my ass doing tons of cardio and whatever to get lean, I would achieve my results faster, but then I risk regaining fat faster with a rebound, and frankly, that kind of method is not sustainable for a lifestyle, and I'm not a pro or competitor so why would I rush to get results that I don't need within a specific timeframe?

So I need to learn to take breaks and learn to rest from regimens, from diets and cardio. This is some kind of addiction, like a drug addict, from which you cannot refuse.

I have been dieting for about 2-3 months. I have hit the bottom. Cant seem to restrict anymore calories than I already have. Ate 2800 cal for a while then lately ive been having trouble staying on that without a few snacks and then binging a couple times a week. I feel like gotten down to a good fat percentage where my body is not storing as much fat. This is my second cut Ive ever done. My weight is staying between 215-218. Im going to throw in some cardio a couple times a week and see how that goes. Ive heard its better at some point to increase activity rather than cut more calories. I dont even know what bf % im at but I know its the leanest Ive been in a long time.

From my experience, if you're starting to binge and all that, it's your body telling you to take a break... You've been in a deficit for a long time, so I think it's time to take a break. If you eat at your NEW maintenance, you will not gain any new fat at all; the KEYWORD is NEW: do not go to your old maintenance before you started your cut, otherwise you will get fat again.

Try this diet break for a week or two, then go back into a new deficit. That's my advice. Adding more cardio will add more stress to you. When I added more cardio, I got HUNGRIER and ate more.

I shouldve mentioned I have not been doing any cardio at all. I walk a lot for my job and can be pretty physical otherwise thats all I get besides lifting

I personally went this route, first trying to cut calories, to the point of insanity. As a result, failures and lack of results. So it is necessary to reduce the amount of food reasonably, and of course it is better to manipulate the amount of activity, training and cardio and monitor the ability to recover and not accumulate psychological fatigue.

I agree that if you start to have a breakdown, you must first correct your diet, and then add cardio and change activity. And I agree that at such a moment, rest and a change of scenery are important.
