Now it’s ~12 sets per day on a push/pull/legs variations so maybe 12-14 sets total per week on my highest volume body part.

I used to do ~20 sets a day when I first started.
How many reps? Depends on body part?

Food. Getting your calories in from clean whole foods is entirely different from junk.

People always say they can eat but in reality, they can pound the calories if its from sugary or fatty food but struggle when it's just plain meat and rice. This makes growth phase so challenging.

Same goes in cutting, nobody told me you will get mad hungry lol. Sleep will be deprived just from starving and you will lose your mind and barely function.

So yeah, food.

How much food needs to be eaten, and what kind.

If I would have just pounded hamburger and chicken and eggs until I was stuffed I would have been huge by the time I finished college. The dining hall in college was all you can eat and my mom would gladly make me mountains of food. But I had PTSD from being slightly chubby with bad gyno until I was in 11th grade and then I leaned out (on purpose). The gyno was still there, of course, but it didn't look quite as bad when I was lean.

Actually that gyno is what got me into the steroid world. I was looking for gyno cures, but almost all of the gyno info on the internet was related to steroids, not just due to puberty. I got interested and bingo bango I'm on deca and winstrol in my sophomore year.

That people are super ignorant about it. We're viewed as mentally unwell freaks, either that or they're jealous and irritated about it, there's a lot of projection and insecurity involved. People don't like what they don't understand, and bodybuilding gets a lot of bad press on top of that. Oh and we're all on steroids, and that's what does the work. I stopped giving diet/fitness advice years ago because it was always blown off like "what do you know, you're on steroids so your advice doesn't count".

I absolutely agree. The only people who know I use steriods are my girl and my immediate blood relatives. I've told a couple of exs I trusted I used steriods and when we would argue they would use that against me. Either in a threatening way(telling the police or my employer), or a "you're only big because you use steriods". A lot of people think you can just take steriods and you get big. They don't understand the hard work, lifestyle changes, constant force feeding yourself, waking up at 3-4am daily 7 days a week. The strong strong discipline this lifestyle demands.

So I keep my mouth shut about training, nutrition, ect. Except here, of course

That reminds me. I was at a company conference one time with a fitness center at the resort. The HR manager saw me in there with my work out clothes (not used to seeing me like that). She said ewww that is disgusting then immediately started apologizing and a few more times after that. I was like thinking to myself, "hell yeah."

She was mortified I would complain for a long while. I said no way, it was cool.
I would have sent an email and reported her to herself haha

Agreed, the only people that know for sure are my wife - and one of my old doctors. But, people know... you know. Big guy, lifts every day, bodybuilder = steroids = opinion on diet/training doesn't count.

People dont get that using steroids means you have to be even MORE strict, or you die. But, people don't wanna hear that they have to put in work and be consistent literally for years or ideally the rest of their lives. Everyone wants an easy pass, and so everyone assumes there's an easy pass, and they assume ours is the needle.

Absolutely. I think the unknown about steriods (the general public i mean) perpetuates the myths about them.

On steroids?. ..Oh You're lazy/cheating/mean/ect

It's like marijuana back in the day. Oh you smoke weed? You must be dumb and lazy. In reality I know several very successful people who smoke marijuana.

A lot of it is jealousy too. Most people cannot fathom the discipline and how strong you have to be mentally to make bodybuilding your hobby and lifestyle forever. It's something most people could not handle for 1 week of their lives. In addition to being a dad, having a job, house, ect.

People are naive, they want to hear lies. They want to be told you can be lean, big and muscular like John Cena or Randy Orton. Ridiculous statements like you can achieve that physique with hard work and more time than steroid user lol, okay.

Hell considering that even 150-200mg of any ester Testosterone is night and day difference between natural and someone on synthetic T, it's crazy how fake naturals make average people believe that anything is possible.

If you think you are eating enough food, you probably are not. No wonder I saw no progress for the first little while. I was basically eating at maintenance and thought I was eating a ton of food.

Also, know who the good spotters are in the gym.

Eat right: Nutrition is paramount. All the training in the world won't yield the results you want if your diet isn't on point. Ensure you're fueling your body adequately and appropriately.

Be consistent: It's not about searching for a secret formula. It's about consistency, dedication, and patience. Progress in bodybuilding is a long-haul journey, and you'll achieve more by sticking to the basics and doing them well over time.

Gear: Respect the compounds you introduce to your body. Understand them, and don't jump into cycles without proper knowledge. Sometimes less is more. Your health should always come first.

Would be interested to hear more about how you divide it up and if you train each set till failure or how you go about your training

Interesting, will try the 2 sets until failure instead of the usual 3x10-15.

Anyone else doing only 2 sets per muscle group on a PPL?

Well it depends on what you call a set. I'll slowly work up over a few sets, not to failure, to my final "working weight". I'll do one all out set to failure and beyond (rest pause or drop set) on all exercises except squats and deads. A lot of people don't consider those warmup and feeler sets as actual sets.

On PPL, I'll do 2 or 3 exercises per major body part (chest, back, front and side delts) and 1 or 2 per minor (bis, tris, rear delts, calves). On legs I'll pick two big compound movements along with extensions and curls.
