I really like Modafinil - even at low doses

Shortly after posting this I started taking ModAlert 200 mg per day and completely stopped Vyvanse. Just bupropion 300 XL (brand name) and ModAlert 200 mg in the morning.

I did not feel any Vyvanse "withdrawal" symptoms at all, and in the past I have taken breaks from Vyvanse for around 2 weeks without issue.

For the first 10 nights I also had Hypnite 2 mg's (Lunesta) which helped bump my tracked sleep duration from max 6 hours to an average of 8 hours. But when I ran out I immediately regressed back to 6 hours.

Wakefulness
I can definitely feel the "clean energy" that modafinil brings. I can confirm it's not a stimulant at all, it doesn't "force" you to be awake, you just feel normal.

If you had bad sleep last night, modafinil can help you feel completely normal the next day. But if you sleep badly say 2+ nights in a row there's only so much it can do.

But unlike caffeine or Vyvanse, it doesn't "force" you awake and feel like your energy is being depleted and you're running on fumes. I never felt like modafinil caused/worsened insomnia.

ADHD
To be frank modafinil didn't do jack for ADHD.

Over the past month I felt more impulsive (confirmed by Amazon purchase history), time blind, low executive function, brought back bad behaviours like talking to myself out loud saying random offensive shit, having 50 Chrome tabs open to research 7 different things at once when trying to relax.

I basically regressed to my pre-Vyvanse self and this made me pretty unhappy. Work became harder, socializing became harder, relaxing became harder, I couldn't stay as focused while training, everything was just worse.

It reminds me of in the past when I have taken a short break from Vyvanse and then a week in I'm like "Damn, what the hell happened to me?" and then I remember how much better I am on Vyvanse and I happily resume taking it.

Effects over time
I know @Ghoul has mentioned in this thread that modafinil's effects build up in your system over time. Maybe since it has only been like 30 days that wasn't enough time for me to notice anything.

But I felt the same on day 30 as I did on day 1, I didn't feel any "build up". My ADHD symptoms immediately became worse if I am being honest, but I didn't realize how bad they got until the past few days since the backlog of shit I have to do has piled up.

On the bright side I also felt the wakefulness was as good on day 30 as it was on day 1. So modafinil's wakefulness benefits are immediately apparent.

Current plan
Resume taking Vyvanse 50 mg and modafinil 200 mg in the morning along with bupropion 300 XL.

Re-introduce Hypnite at 3 mg before bed to increase sleep duration.

Advice
Modafinil is perfectly fine, I don't really see a reason to take armodafinil. I never really felt like there was a time when modafinil "peaked" in my system since it's so clean.

200 mg was a perfectly fine starting dose and I am glad I didn't waste time splitting pills and titrating up.

If you take Adderall/Vyvanse continue taking it while you take modafinil and let it do its thing rather than treating it as a replacement.
When someone is accustomed to the feeling of Vyvanse, Modafinil will be a disappointment compared to the individual who hasn’t taken Vyvanse and just starts taking Modafinil. Different baselines.

I think he said something about someone’s mom or family. It’s buried in the QSC thread somewhere.
Geeze I just saw the QSC thread.

It’s impressive that @readalot was able to narrow it down to a single word query of “mother” to highlight his behavior. Nice work sir

Some of ghouls postings are a major red flag though, almost gives off serial killer vibes with the way he constantly refers to mothers or fathers abusing children, and wishing that anyone who crossed him suffered a similar fate. Maybe a slight projection of past events he suffered? I remember reading that most serial killers come from broken homes with emotional abuse, usually an absent father and an abusive mother.

Idk that’s just the kind of vibe I got from him after querying that word into the search bar. Truly damning stuff…

It’s a shame too because he was 95% helpful on most topics. Obviously spammed a bit but whatever. He just got ultra defensive and combative sometimes it seems

The bigger red flag is the creation of your account.

Has anyone tried Sunosi/Solriamfetol? Doctor gave me a sample to try before changing my script.

No experience with Solriamfetol here.

It seems that Sunosi/Solriamfetol is a Norepinephrine Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor, NDRI.

May I ask if your medication is prescribed for shift work, ADD/ADHD, hypersomnia, or other? I read that you were asking your doctor about switching medications over the last months. Sounds like they may be cooperating or at least open to something if you have arrived at the sample stage.

The doctor said for insurance to cover it you have to be prescribed modafinil and it be ineffective. It’s a stepped approach. I have EDS-OSA and SWSD.

This thread convinced me to order some Modvigil a few weeks ago. Finally tried it at 200mg the past few days and it's been great. I am wide awake all night (I work third shift 11pm-7am) which was a challenge some nights. I didn't have any jitters, no comedown or crash. I have used adderall in the past and have been heavily dependent on caffeine usually taking 300-400mg a day. When taking moda I have no need for it. I also found myself doing tasks with less effort mentally. Didnt get any negative sides, no anxiety or anything it made me a bit more social. This is an amazing drug if you don't expect more than what you get. This is far superior to amphetamines for getting stuff done imo

Hello Meso
I really enjoy Modafinil. Clean energy and wakefulness. No sides. A bit hard to get in my part of the world. So I am a bit sparesome with it. Just tried 25mg. Worked well. 50mg did too.
Is the normal 100-300mg dose overkill, if you are just looking for a boost, and don’t have any medical conditions?
What are your experiences?
200mgs is generally the best dose for me. 300mgs is only used if I have had like 4 hours of sleep...

Yesterday at 2 a.m., I took 100mg of Modafinil before heading to work.

Man, I found out the hard way that Fluvoxamine and Modafinil don’t mix, and now it’s 11:30 the next day, and I’m still feeling the effects!

When dieting, consider using 50mg of Modafinil daily. It can significantly reduce food focus by keeping you mentally engaged and feeling productive throughout the day.

Has anyone seen the studies on reduced plasticity in juveniles taking modafinil? Seems like it affects people who are still developing pre frontal cortex so don’t think it’s an issue for me but curious if anyone else heard about it or has more informed opinion.

That's true on some level. But Vyvanse also causes a lot more troubles with sleep and crashing in the evening (at least for me). So Modafinil got its place.

I've kept a stock of Nootropics Depot Adrafinil on hand for those overnighter type of nights. Has worked great for that purpose. Decided to add some Moda to my recent Indian Pharma order and I gotta say, this shit rocks!

I feel like 100mg of Modvigil hits just as good as 300mg of Adrafinil. Almost subperceptual, but a subtle feeling of just being "more alive." 200mg is nice too, but its almost a little bit too much, I feel almost hyper-aware.

I have an Adderall prescription, and Addy is my favorite drug. But I can't use it as often as I wish I could for obvious reasons. I mostly stick to twice a week and try to squeeze the most out of those days. Low-dose Moda slides in as an excellent alternative on those days I don't take Addy. Carves some of the gunk out of your brain and allows you to focus more intently on what you're doing. Adderall-Lite without the more intense dopaminergic feelings.

The real killer with Moda is the half-life. You really gotta take it as early as possible if you want to get to bed. I wish this had similar pharmacokinetics as Adderall IR, so you could control your exposure to it for sleep purposes.

The half-life knocks it down a few points, but other than that, this drug is amazing. Not toxic, not overly invasive (don't feel "on" anything), therapeutic for ADHD, great for overnights or bad sleep days, not habit-forming. Most important of all is it's easy to attain (both through a doctor and Indian Pharma) and cheap as hell.

I have been playing with different doses for a few weeks now. My sleep is trash really and I think I need to stop for a minute. I will wake up after only a few hours but when I wake up, I'm awake. The more I think about it my issue seems to be I'm not groggy or really tired when waking. I feel its the moda/armo. Not "feeling" taking different doses like to where I know I took it but overall not as tired during the day. Amazing stuff. Thanks @Ghoul

I keep forgetting to order some Armoda. At 200mg Moda does nothing for me. I need to try 300mg but that seems excessive and I’ll blow through my stock fast. And that’s if it has an effect at 300.

Didn’t do much for me personally I have bad adhd and a high stim tolerance
Same here. I've been on Adderall for years and have been tempted to try Modafinil just to experiment and compare, plus I've heard good things about it but I suspect the Adderall would override it's stim effect.
