Refillable injector pen

He's trying to put oil in the pens..but it probably has BA/BB and even EO (if Chinese gear). With constantly contact of those solvents, the rubber might start leeching into the oil in a day or two (no clue, im sure someone can run a test).

Yeah I read through this thread before asking the question.

I have Chinese gear containing MCT/BB/BA/EO (stromusc).

I also have Ks-tek 3ml vials:

I'll do a test and report back with the results.

The Novo Pen 4 seems to be a much better build quality. Too bad it's not compatible without modification.

Is the Chongye Lin any better? The Ergo 2 quality is so so.

Well, these are insulin pens, none of them were meant to come into contact with BA/BB/EO/oil in the first place. The plastic bits on the pen that have been reported to be melting will probably be the same regardless of which pen you use.

I think you can wash the pen after each use, but as for the rubber, all the best lol. It does seem alot weaker than the syringe rubbers, given how it's meant to be used with thinner needles.

Ok reporting back to the brains trust with my combination fried rice injector.

The Novo Pen 4 is so well built I decided to try to get the 3ml generic vials to work with it. Here's how I did it:

1. Cannibalise the threaded end off of a Lilly HumaPen Ergo 2. Enough of the radius needs to be in tact for it to get jammed inside the fingers at the end of the cartridge holder.
2. Find a small o-ring and fit to the top of the 3ml vial. This will push the cartridge low enough to engage the lock to keep the position of the push rod
3. Follow online tutorials showing how to use a dremel to take off approximately 0.3mm of plastic on the entrance to the cartridge holder that blocks the vial from entering (the inner diameter is too small).
4. Profit!

It may not work if the needle ends you have don't have enough penetration distance on the threaded end.

Alternatively you could manufacture or purchase a spacer to increase the effective length of the vial/cartridge.

Enjoy the autistic pleasure of an amazing and satisfying click when the injection is done. I love the quality of this pen. Probably gonna buy about 3 more.

Hahaha yeah mate I'm got mine on AliExpress. Probably like $25 USD. Got the other lilly pens for $10

For those using generic cartridges. I went with heavens island (available alongside the ergo2 on AliExpress).

They have failed a third party sterility test (not mine).

Have ordered a batch of cartridges from KStek direct instead
Damn I loaded up on these because a different 3rd party test back in Feb 2025 showed them to be sterile.

If you just want to buy some 3d printed parts to make it work for a few bucks. (still have to grind out the cart sleeve, but he also carries pre-modified pens)

It's amazing how Americans have access to pretty much everything

I found the STL files they used to make that adapter, however my 3d printer isn't up to scratch. My adapter works great.

I also got one of those gansulin green pens interested to see the quality of them.

I wake up thanking God for diabetics All this stuff wouldn't exist without them.

Are there cartridges for sale (Alibaba) that are compatible with the Novo?

Not that I could find. The Novo cartridges are threaded and a bit longer. I think the calculation is a bit different. With the adapted 3ml genetics the Novo 4 pen puts out 62 units when you put 60.

it's an 8% overdose if you do the math on the cart differences.

I've printed the public STL adapters, they definitely work but they aren't as good as his (I have both)

Day 3. No signs of rubber degradation.

The oil is stromusc test enanthate indicated by supplier to contain EO. Probably BB/BA/MCT +EO.

I'll post another photo in a few days. Looks so far like nothing is happening.

Are you able to take the rubber out and soak it in the oil?
If you see my testing, the rubber did not break off, rather it swelled which shows that it was degrading and possibly leeching into the oil.
For the cartridge, the rubber would not be able to swell because the oil is taking up the space.

Yeah sure. I will do that next. If there is any degradation it will be plainly visible in the current setup however.

I don't think swelling is going to be an issue. But the rubber disintegrating into the oil will be.

Just for fun I'll draw up 3 different syringes with oil. I've seen photos of them degrading before and it's very obvious.

My rubber stoppers only swelled during testing, i would be alot more concerned if the rubber started dropping off

Rubber is quite porous so that wouldn't really worry me to be honest. I'll have to have a look into what materials these vials are made of.

Due to how clear the oil is and the magnifying effect of the glass you can detect very tiny particles leaching into the solution.
