2017 training log

That would make a nice stickie. Mobility, rehab/prehad recovery.

i was thinking the same thing. that way everyone has one place to visit to see options. and not have to randomly find stuff in logs.

The most epic part of this log is the fucking beard. Jesus Mary and Joseph that beard is amazing.

Haha, i get that daily just about. testosterone has done me wonders!

true statement. chicks dig the beard for sure. when im working my club gig, they all wanna touch it. its a god damn pussy magnet
They like the feeling of the beard when it's tickling their pussy lips while the clit gets the tongue stimulation. LOL!!!!

I had grown a massive beard in just 3 months. My wife said it has to go. Her reasoning was that she wears her hair the way I like it and want it. So I said you got me. Off with the beard. I was going for at least a year.

Solid fricking session here gents! bench felt on point. was wondering how it would go because the day before i took a nap on my couch and slept on my shoulder all wonky. it felt kinda jacked up yesterday all day. reps were buttery smooth. approaching volume PR's on bench. best ive done is 315 5x5 which netted a fairly easy 385 during my peaking phase. And i still have a little under 3 months of training left till my meet. last rep of last set was maybe a 7RPE probably more like a 6. took an extra long pause on that last one.

went fairly easy with the SSB squats. letting this hip clear up a bit before pushing the envelop. it was under a 7RPE for sure.just wanted to get good reps in that didnt aggrivate it.

havent done T&G bench in i dont know how long. maybe a year? was a little surprised considering the volume i had already moved. momentum is definitely building for bench and deads. it was for squats big time but this hip issue is gonna take a few weeks before we ramp back up intensity and volume load.

hammer curls continue to be my favorite curl.

Why the love affair with the hammer curls? Do you feel it helps to prevent the dreaded elbow issues from all the pressing?

yes, that and i like the thickness they give my biceps.
i spoke with a PT that i lifted with at my old gym. he competed in PL for a period of time. and she aid hammer curls, especially with a slow eccentric help with tendon issues in the elbow. i generally warm up with some 10 second eccentric hammer curls every session. use light weight i usually use 15s

Sweet. I know you're busy we have to work on that thread you recommended for prehab/rehab mobility and recovery.

This forum is growing nicely.

Wave 6 Week 1 Day 3

Squats

255
8 sets 2 reps

Glute bridge/Hip Thruster
275
3 sets 10 reps 7RPE
225
2 sets 10 reps 7RPE

Reverse Hyper
215
2 sets 10 reps 7RPE
180
3 sets 10 reps 7RPE

I thought this was going to be a really quick in and out session. Nope. Those hip thruster had my low back pumping full of blood by the second set. Knowing I had the reverse hypers after which always pumps my low back up I laid on the ground after the thrusters for like 15 minutes. I feel like a pussy.

I'm doing them to hopefully help relieve some of these hip problems I seem plagued with. My coach says they will now help in any way shape or form with deadlifts or any lift.

Laid on a bench after reverse hypers for another 10 minutes. Brutal sessions for my low back.

I had this happen to me last week or the week before. After a deadlift session. I tried to roll it out, stretch it out. Nope. Just laying on the ground trying to release the pressure. LOL. Fuckers were probably thinking I was crazy.

Had a solid weekend. it was my last weekend working my part time gig, so now i have no excuses for not sleeping well. that 3-4 hours sleep every Friday/Saturday starts taking a toll on you.

there was a meet at my gym this weekend. so i went to that Saturday morning. i set a buddy up with some simple programming that is basically my version of 5/3/1. it was his first meet and he did really fucking well. PR in every lift except squats. he hit a 365 squat, 300 bench and 500 deadlift at 181. went 8/9 and would have went 9/9 had he kept his singlet up for his last attempt on squats which would have been a PR. he was able to laugh it off though and continue on with the meet. had i not been wrapped up in conversation when he was attempting it i would have noticed.

Got to talk with a few of the bigger names in this sport which was awesome. plans to train with a couple of them as they arent too far from my location. also watched a monster squat 900+ in wraps, bench close to 500 and deadlift a hair under 800. dude is a SHW i believe and his sumo form is just some next level shit.

i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend if you haven't done a meet, find one thats fairly local and just watch one and how its run. @franchise24 you should see if there is one before yours just to see one in person. make some connections with people in your area to train together, bounce ideas off each other etc etc etc. it motivated the shit out of me for my upcoming meet.

Speed deads are always fun. rip that shit right off the floor. alot of what ive been focusing on lately is doing things under strict time on lighter days. what i did yesterday was exactly 60 seconds rest. after set 8 i took a 3 minute break, then the rest were 60 seconds.

not that im doing westide or a variation of it, but it alot of westisde days they would do stuff for time on speed work days. say youre bench with bands or chains on speed day. start the clock on your first working set. you have 15 minutes to complete as many sets as possible with 30-60 seconds rest between sets. i like that methodology.

Overhead press felt really good. looking at doing 225 for reps in the coming weeks. and those tempo rows are great for a huge pump and grip work.

Oh, i also had that guy from the gym with the boomstick do some work on me last night after my session. holy hell. ive done body tempering by myself but this was on another level since he was able to apply pressure to the device. he has been trained by Donnie Thompson so he knows how to use it properly. he is going back for more training with Donnie in a couple weeks. did my back, legs, abs and chest with the 150lb tempering device. then use the boomstick for my shoulders, biceps, triceps and traps. my biceps and triceps were a mess as were my quads. he also used the boomstick on my chest to release some junk and did some work on my lats. i cant even begin to describe what rolling out for IT band and quads is like.

i have a feeling this is going to help me out tremendously. i will be doing this every monday. for his price i cant say no.

Wish I had someone like that in my area. Donnie needs to come do a seminar here. I'm only 1 state south of him.
