Had a solid weekend. it was my last weekend working my part time gig, so now i have no excuses for not sleeping well. that 3-4 hours sleep every Friday/Saturday starts taking a toll on you.
there was a meet at my gym this weekend. so i went to that Saturday morning. i set a buddy up with some simple programming that is basically my version of 5/3/1. it was his first meet and he did really fucking well. PR in every lift except squats. he hit a 365 squat, 300 bench and 500 deadlift at 181. went 8/9 and would have went 9/9 had he kept his singlet up for his last attempt on squats which would have been a PR. he was able to laugh it off though and continue on with the meet. had i not been wrapped up in conversation when he was attempting it i would have noticed.
Got to talk with a few of the bigger names in this sport which was awesome. plans to train with a couple of them as they arent too far from my location. also watched a monster squat 900+ in wraps, bench close to 500 and deadlift a hair under 800. dude is a SHW i believe and his sumo form is just some next level shit.
i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend if you haven't done a meet, find one thats fairly local and just watch one and how its run.
@franchise24 you should see if there is one before yours just to see one in person. make some connections with people in your area to train together, bounce ideas off each other etc etc etc. it motivated the shit out of me for my upcoming meet.

Speed deads are always fun. rip that shit right off the floor. alot of what ive been focusing on lately is doing things under strict time on lighter days. what i did yesterday was exactly 60 seconds rest. after set 8 i took a 3 minute break, then the rest were 60 seconds.
not that im doing westide or a variation of it, but it alot of westisde days they would do stuff for time on speed work days. say youre bench with bands or chains on speed day. start the clock on your first working set. you have 15 minutes to complete as many sets as possible with 30-60 seconds rest between sets. i like that methodology.
Overhead press felt really good. looking at doing 225 for reps in the coming weeks. and those tempo rows are great for a huge pump and grip work.
