Am I an alcoholic?

No shakes, no hangovers, no blacking out, no morning drinks. Just a few at lunch and then maybe 1 at night. The concern is that I need to stop so I can cut weight better but I can't seem to stop completely. Most people say that if you can have just 1 or 2 you dont have a problem.... and that's why for so long I didn't think I had a problem. Even my wife who isn't a drinker says me going to AA "would be stupid"
But deep down inside, I know I need to stop. I would like to get to the point that I can just have a few on the weekend while barbecuing and 0 drinks monday-thursday. That'll be my priority this month.

No Alcohol August
Let's see how long it lasts.

Approach this like "pre" show prep. Typically a month before the actual diet begins you'll start removing things you can't have a little at a time. Some of it gets replaced with stuff you can have but some just gets removed.

So start with every EOD for instance. No drinks at all every other day no matter how bad it sucks or who offers or what the situation is. Gradually you go two days and so on. Or start with 1 day off (no drinks) 2-3 days on. Whatever you can manage.

The point is to draw a line in the sand that you must enforce for yourself with no exceptions. Be successful at it, then build off that success. If that doesn't work then you may need outside help regardless of what those around you think.

That's a great idea. Slow taper.
So today I went out with coworkers everyone had a beer so I had 1 beer at 140 calories. Stopped there even though they continued. Much better than the 2 LIT I had yesterday. Tomorrow I will go for 0 beers.

Yeah, and 480 calories of vodka, what a waste of my perfect chicken and vegetable diet. My diet is basically 99% perfect, this ruins everything and is the reason for this thread in the first place. Crazy to think I am still able to cut so much fat off while doing this. I can't wait to see how my diet goes with 0 alcohol.

I've been in the same boat, as long as i keep it to one or two drinks a night and less then 2 or 3 nights a week then it's not a problem in my opinion. But if I get passed 6 drinks, (usually only in a party setting) I'm probably not stopping till the party's over or I'm hugging the porcelain throne.

A few months back after purchasing a house and all the stresses that go along with life, I had gotten to a point where I was drink 3-4 a night ever night and if I didn't have beer at home I was making cranberry&vodkas. That's when it became a problem for me. It was mostly just my attitude, definitely a shorter fuse and all around acting like a dick. I started to notice it at work and then my girlfriend started mentioning it so I stopped for a few weeks and now sometimes I don't even finish my first beer of the night. And on my 30 birthday last week I stopped at 6.

So sometimes you just need to step back and reel it in a lil bit. It seems like your head is in the right place and shouldn't have a problem nippin this in the bud. Good luck man and stay strong.
