Anavar and red blood cell count....

I have been told that many athletes use anavar to increase red blood cell count (among other things). Do y'all believe it has enough of an effect on RBC to warrent the price? I have an endurance event coming up in Sept. and I have been told that running anavar for a about 30 days leading up will give drastic results (espically stacked with sust250, and winney; both of which will continue for the full cycle time). Any input would be appreciated.

Not sure anavar is what they ment. All AAS will increase red blood count, but there are some used especially for that like Anadrol is used to Anemia and increases Red Blood Count. And I know EQ increases red blood count. And of Course EPO. But Anavar effects the Midocondria(sp) of the cell.

From the literature put out by Solvay/Unimed pharmaceuticals:

Anadrol-50 (oxymetholone) 50 mg tablets for anemia

Anadrol-50 is used in the treatment of anemias caused by deficient red cell production. It belongs to a class of drugs called anabolic steroids, which are similar to the male hormone testosterone.

Anadrol-50 enhances the production and urinary excretion of erythropoietin (EPO, a chemical in your body that can increase the production of new red blood cells), in patients with anemias due to bone marrow failure, and it often stimulates red blood cell production in patients with anemias due to deficient red cell production.

Anadrol-50 is the only oral anabolic steroid that has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of anemias caused by deficient red blood cell production.

This tells me Anavar doesn't do much in the way of increasing RBC, at least not compared to anadrol and Eq.

Good info, but with the rise in bp that drol causes would you really want to use it for endurance training?

There seems to be some debate as to whether EQ is special in this way. The following article makes claims that all AAS increase red blood cells, but that the more anabolic the steroid, the bigger the increase. That would bode well for anadrol, but not EQ. Yet, I keep seeing EQ touted as special. True, or is this EQ claim simply being passed around as lore on the boards?

PS The problem with anadrol and endurance sports is that anadrol causes a lot of water gain, which would most likely offset any boost in red blood cell count. Also, fwiw, the author above claims there is no evidence to show that AAS leads to noticeable cardiovascular performance improvements (strength and recover are a different story I suppose).
