Yeah it's exactly like the symptoms of a heart attack, the term is "impending doom". No matter how hard of a mofo you are your brain literally tells you you're dying or something bad is inevitable, Benzos are a god send but I wouldn't wish them on anyone unless you are debilitated by your anxiety or suffer from GAD daily I wouldn't touch them as they are hell to come off of. Having Xanax on hand to use PRN once in awhile is a lot different than guys who end up on daily scripts. Trust me been down the GABA related drugs road and it is hell.
My Advice as someone who has been anxious since I was a kid:
vitamins that may help:
Ashawaganda - I believe it actually works in relation to the Gaba-a unit but also has been proven to reduce cortisol levels by up to 27-30% in some tests. I would take it at night try 300mg, and then 600mg and make sure you get the KSM-66 type.
L-Theanine - Can pretty much take as much as you want, can be very calming and if you are coming off benzos or are panicking feel free to take up to 1g at a time.
Magnesium Glycinate or Citrate - Majority of population is deficient in magnesium and it's naturally calming typically I would take 1.5g before bed. If you haven't had issue with gaba drugs previously this one might surprise you how relaxing/tired it can make you feel.
BPC-157 - Has been shown to slow/help rats not get physically addicted as badly to Diazepam (Valium) when co-administered. Definitely has some sort of effect on homeostasis in the GABA system. Typically 250-500mcg pre-bed. If you are trying to get off your benzos then 500mcg 3x a day to help calm you works great.
BPC alone some people fine helps with anxiety/relaxation.
Selank is another peptide that is touted for anxiety
Agmatine - just google Agmatine anxiety or Agmatine depression for more info I'm just gonna bang out the list of items I have. The coals notes is :
Agmatine, is a substance that has existed since 1911 which posseses the same antidepressant effects as ketamine and other glutamergic drugs, by inducing massive neurogenesis in the prefrontal cortex & hippocampus via mTor signaling and AMPA receptor activation.
Tyrosine - Dopamine related
5-HTP - if you want to avoid prescription SSRI's
SAM-E
NAC
Last, last resort: Benzos AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE and for some reason people seem to say Xanax has much worse withdrawals than other benzos and I've heard it from a few other people as well.
Always recommend using them PRN and no more than when you full blown panic. If you are on Ativan/Xanax/some other fast acting hard hitting benzo and want to quit I recommend the following:
1) Transfer your prescription to a long acting benzo like Diazepam (Valium) General rule is 1mg Ativan/Xanax is equipotent to ~10mg Diazepam. Diazepam is much easier to taper due to its extremely long half life, you will not succeed trying to taper xanax if you have been on it for awhile the half life is just too short.
2) Google the Ashton Manual and follow a proper taper protocol, do NOT try to cold turkey or quit these too fast
3) Run BPC alongside the Diazepam as you taper
4) take it SLOW and steady, it takes a very long time to properly hop off these drugs.
I hope this list helps people out and feel free to PM me if you have questions. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in the Anti-depressant department though.
