Any martial artists or boxers here?

Any of you train in a combat sport on a regular basis how do you balance that training with lifting and AAS use? Has your lifting or bodybuilding helped you in your particular sport?

I’m talking about real combat sports, not a karate or Kung fu dojo that has no sparring or live drills.

Used to box, but I don't fight anymore. My coach will ask me to come into the gym when one of the boys are getting ready for a fight to give them some heavy sparring.

I'm no longer in fight shape, and being a lot heavier than I was in my boxing days doesn't help that. The only advantage I have seen with my increased size is my ability to take a shot. That might seem obvious - bigger guys should be able to take bigger shots. But I really attribute it to my neck and traps getting bigger.

That said, anyone competing can definitely use PEDs/AAS to their advantage, but they wouldn't be following traditional bulking and cutting cycles the way that a bodybuilder would.

Edit: just to be clear, I was natty when fighting.

I wonder what it would of been like being enhanced. I think it would’ve made a big difference when sparring guys of similar skill. Idk if you follow UFC but the performance of Vitor Belfort on vs off was night and day. Jon Jones also

I was a regional champion of freestyle wrestling in my youth.

I coach freestyle and greko Roman wrestling today.

I also train in classic European style boxing.

I'm 44 years old. My aas use is so I can keep doing this stuff amd still work a physical job.

All I can say is after more than 10 years of mild aas use, that it has changed my life for the better.

However, a blast for me is 500mg max. Maybe 300 test and 200npp for example. I don't use the gear like a bodybuilder. It's moreover supplement for me. I do trt at about 160mg wk. Sometimes I bump it up to 200 or so. Then I'll blast to maybe 500mg week if needed. Or add some primobolan in the summer to cut body fat at a moderate calorie deficit.
My aas use is tailored to maintaining performance and body capabilities more than just looks or bulk.

I use test propinate more than anything else. Blast with enthanate and or npp.

Cut with primo.

Never more than 500mg total.

I don't train as often as I would like any more. I just put my focus on one thing at a time. If I'm bulking for a meet I'll focus on lifting and not do MMA, but if I'm cutting or just sitting at maintenance for a bit I'll train then. If I wanted to get back in the cage, I would just stop heavy lifting and use lifting as more of a form of physical endurance training pushing a lot of volume instead. My main focus would be cardio and training though. Lol
