What's up fellas? How many MMA/NHB fans are around here?

I've been following and training in Mixed-martial arts for years man, nothing like the rush of being across from another person trying to enforce his will upon you! Love the sport and strategy it involves.

there are always good threads on here about that. Several followers and a couple of fighters on here

Oh,cool...wanted to fight MMA professionally for a while now,but unfortunately I had a car wreck early this year, still recovering from that.:(

Guess I'll see what the future holds and if I can recover 100%...

Been a big fan since UFC I. I love all fighting sports, not just full contact, but full contact is my favorite.

Robbie, i know what you mean when you talk about being across from your opponent. The real memory it leaves is when you're walking to the ring and you feel the floor under your feet. You're about to enter the ring and there's usually some metal on the floor right before you enter. You never know that this feeling is engraved in your brain forever until you walk down that aisle again and step on the cold metal again, then you say to yourself "i remember this feeling".

I don't have a pro record as i'm from the mid east and we don't have MMA events (the best we have is the Abu Dhabi event), which is something way out of my league as i'm more of a striker than a grappler, and i was barely an amature back in my days. haven't trained in years, and i was planning to start kick boxing or boxing, but i couldn't find the time (got married awhile ago and lost whatever small free time i used to have).

Every time i watch a good Pride/UFC i say to myself "that's it, i'm walking in that ring one day", but then i go back to my normal life i forget the thrill.

Enough said about me already, what about you Robbie, what's your main game in MMA?

I love it all man,got into grappling pretty heavily when I was 14,I'm now 22.But I also love to bang, been boxing and kickboxing since I was 10...competed in many kickboxing events, only lost once as a child by decision, one of my first matches.

I broke my leg earlier this year, hell I still can't walk that well :(,so kickboxing and Pro MMA are probably out of my future, but as soon as I heal up properly I will definitely seek out a good boxing gym and work on maybe competing in boxing.Boxing is something I've been wanting to compete in for a while since I have very heavy hands and move extremely well for a big guy.

Sorry to hear about the leg, hope it heals soon.

Boxing is great, just make sure you don't injure your fists while training. If you're a kickboxer then you tend to shift some of your focus from your hands to you legs and sometimes elbows if they're allowed, but once it's a game of fists only, then all the abuse is in your hands. One of my friends is a HW (competes in BB from time to time, 5'6 and 231lbs). When he started boxing, he had power, but didn't have much techinque so he ended up breaking bones in his fists more than 4 times before he learned how to control them.

One of my problems is that i tend to lock my joints when punch, the hit is harder, but it drains a lot of energy, so cardio is very important for me if i'm boxing. Doesn't require cardio as much as grappling for sure, but requires a lot nontheless.
