Any way to reduce waist size? outside of getting leaner

Training is his core will more likely than not make his midsection appear blockier and larger
Depends on the type of training and the lifts used to train it in my experience. While I wouldn’t consider deadlifts and squats direct core training lifts, there’s probably nothing that will tax the core as much as those two done heavy. But both make my midsection thick and blocky. But I think I know what you meant.

I don’t train abs directly very much or very often. But when I do it’s basically just different types of crunches and leg raises. My abs just are what they are and I just highlight them by keeping my intestines cleaned out staying around 10%bf year round. Tirzepatide has been my most effective weapon for abs the last several years. Although the first few weeks on Tirz gives me anything except a slim waistline with the major constipation that you get early on.

15% bf is lean, you just underestimate your bodyfat, 15% you'll have abs and muscle separation in arms amd legs. caliper gives me 8mm at fattest point of my abdomen (while pinching and pulling the fat, otherwise it's hard ti mesure it). I hold much more in the legs

15% is not lean lol. People who say this are delusional. Also you’re probably not even 15 because almost everyone who hasn’t been below 10% or takes body building seriously is fatter than they think they are

He doesn't bodybuild xD he probably never entered a gym or maybe just to run on a treadmill

Although 15% bodyfat may not be "lean" to bodybuilding standards, you can definitely still see your abs and muscle separation. Ofcourse not as crazy as if you were single digit bodyfat.

Everyone holds fat differently, some may have a leaner upper body but hold a lot of their fat in their lower body.

Yeah it’s just android fat distribution, doesn’t make them lean. It is a healthy body composition which is fine and good. Saying that you can’t lose a waist from being 15% however, is not true even if you have a minimal amount of separation.

Anyways train your lats, delts, legs for a couple years, don’t grow your obliques and avoid exercises that stimulate erectors a lot and your waist will not look as big comparatively.

May I ask what is the relation of stimulating the erectors and reducing waist size? Genuinely trying to learn by the way.
It’s not necessarily the erectors themselves, but the movements that tend to stimulate them a lot require a lot of bracing around the entire abdomen to do them safely. So people tend to think this will start to grow the waist. For example if we look at a powerlifter’s physique who has to program a lot of squat and deadlift, we can see they tend to have larger waists, smaller lats, etc., They also take recovery/ stimulus priority away from the muscle groups that are needed prominently for a taper. If you for example program conventional deadlifts first, you will have less energy to maximize growth in the parts that build a wider back. For example starting with pulldowns or pullovers/ hammer rows is more beneficial to increasing back to waist ratio than CDL. Or why waste resources healing lower back, entire waist and CNS, when the sets and therefore recovery + growth could go towards the taper.

Thank you for the great answer, that makes a lot of sense.

is there any way to reduce the size of your waist other than just leaning out? I can see my hip bones and have abs but my midsection looks thick. I'm fine with my current bodyfat level but was wondering if things like vacuums and waist trainets actually work to shrink your waist. any advice is appreciated. I don't have a gut because of hyperglycemia or visceral fat, just thick waist. never used AAS, just peptides and supplements. (I'm not a bodybuilder)
dont train your waist i knew a girl who was lean and had a bigger waist then me because she was always training her abs and side abs thinking that would like tone the muscle and get rid of fat in that area or some shit(classic retard woman). also having good gut health will make your waist smaller because less inflammation in your stomage

respawn with a better bone structure

nah jk but waist size is mostly genetic

just don’t make it worse with gh abuse

and yeah don’t train abs or obliques bc

those two atrophy last ; shoulders first.
