Anybody surgery on dislocated AC joint?

I have a dislocated ac joint that has stopped me from lifting for the last few months. I'm looking into surgeries. Has anybody had surgery for this? If so how did it turn out? Thanks.

a close friend of mine did....he recovered rather well...used the "lubricants" hint hint to help his joints heal better and the doctor was amazed at his recovery as his was a significant tear.....

This was an ac joint surgery? Not a rotray cuff? Just making sure. I'm going to have it looked at next week.

Rookie - A/C dislocation

Instock, I had a complete A/C separation about 20 years ago from a motorcycle
accident. It was surgical repaired with a piece of Dacron since the ligiments were completely torn. My shoulder has done pretty good and it is good that you dislocated your A/C joint and not your rotator cuff ,the A/C joint does not more nearly as much as the rotator cuff. If is dislocated, you probably completly torn some ligaments and will most likely need surgery. My surgery was a success and that was a long time ago - you will have no problem recovering if you have suregery. Do some research for a Sport Medicine Shoulder Specialist in you area - Good Luck.

Thanks bud, I'm sure when you had it done they had to cut your shoulder wide open, there are some new techniques using gortex tape that allow it to be done arthorscopicly with little invasion. Not many doctors know how to do it though. I'm looking into the best.
