Anyone ever dealt with a Bakers cyst or popliteal tear behind the knee?

Long story short, my dumb ass tried jogging on a treadmill about 6-8 months ago, all seemed fine until the next morning when I awoke and had a pain behind my knee/top of calf region.

I didn’t know what to think of it because I thought if it were a tear then something would have felt off during the actual jog the night before. Since this has happened there has been a clicking behind my knee anytime I do a hamstring curl, it’s pretty damn annoying.

I did some research and signs point to either something called a bakers cyst (something that can arise in the back of the knee and cause this issue) or a small muscle behind the knee/top of calf area called a popliteal muscle (may need to spellcheck that)

Has anyone experienced an injury like this? It doesn’t hurt at all except for when I train hamstrings and the pain isn’t anything severe but the clicking behind the knee definitely reminds me that something isn’t 100%

Yeah happens to me quite a bit when I do to much cardio training for my back packing trips. It basically just fluid in the knee and swells out the back side , makes walking awkard as knee doesn’t bend as well it’s almost pressurized. Mine usually lasts 2 weeks or so , slowly goes away but will flare up again.

Do you ever feel it radiating to the top of the calf muscle a little bit also?

Bit late to this thread but thought I better chime in.

Yes I had one of these bastard things about a year ago. Came up literally overnight, frightened me a little bit to be honest when I felt it as I’ve never had a cyst/zit on that part of my leg and wasn’t really sure what it was at first.

Anyway, eventually it ruptured inside my leg (no pain or anything) and filled the back of my calf up with fluid which meant I had a swollen calf on my left leg whilst the right one was normal, it took fucking ages for the bastard to go away (the body to absorb it I guess) genuinely took like 7-8 months before the fluid went away.

I had no pain whatsoever with it, just a slight bit of discomfort when I bent my leg

Thanks for the input man! It’s improving a lot more lately, not sure if it’s a cyst or slight tear of muscle behind the knee, but like your situation it appeared out of nowhere but nothing visual in the area. It seemed to improve once I got back on HGH though, hopefully it stays that way. Thanks again for your input man, one of those weird things most ppl never mention

As I understand it as well they can (and often do) come back.

Thankfully mine has not come back yet. If it comes back then I believe you can have them drained at the doctors. Don’t let it rupture inside as that was a complete cunt for a while. Leg looked like I had lymphoedema

Good to know, I hope nothing comes back because that pain persisted for 8+ months

As far as I know, you need to do an ultrasound or CT scan and then the doctor will start the necessary physiotherapy. And this is quickly resolved and you will be fully healthy.

All the same, it is better to conduct an analysis and consult a doctor. Since we often underestimate the problem, and if it is a torn ligament, everything will end badly. Health to you.
