Damn.....how can I avoid this?

I've been having major computer issues of late and am about to reformat.

Can you suggest a firewall or some such device?

In the past I've used various anonymizers of the years but was told they could all be gotten around.

Like any of us, I'd like not to be so out in the open.

You can get online with a proxy server and go through it. It WILL slow down your connection at times, most companies have busy times and not always enough bandwidth.

It's a piece of cake on your end, you just go to internet tools, options, connections, network, advanced, and type in the name of the proxy server you are going to use.

Do an online search for proxy servers.

When you find one and do this, there is NO way to get back to you. Everyone see's only you as the proxy server address. This is for web surfing, not ftp and etc.

If you are looking for the fastest multiple proxy surfware check this out. They have a free 15 day trial even if you don't buy it.

I'm new to this proxy stuff. I did some searching and found out how to search using a proxy.

It's great when you use one and when you click on the link I have up top it says unknown or I'm in a different country. :)

I got my proxies from here. http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html

Make sure you use high anonymity type. The only thing that sucks is that it does slow you down. But not a big deal when I'm just reading and posting.

I was curious about this, I seen this in the best buy paper the other day but not sure how good it worked. Might have to give it a try, sounds like a good product.

Thanks Bro

i was told by a computer geek that if you have you java and xscripts enabled and the website is set up right, it does not matter about using a proxy. the website can still see your true ip addy. he said these ip checking sites do not check using your java on purpose because they are set up by sites that sell proxy software.

and most of the broadband users ip will show up on these websites that are set up right will read your ip addy no matter what you do.

i dont know. this is just what he told me.

here's a website that is setup right. i turned on my proxy, and it read my true ip, and on these ip check sites my ip does not show up.

click on the credit card option, nd scroll down and read your ip addy.

I'm using Cable. I tried it again and it only lets me get to the next screen after I click the ok button on the credit card section when I have my proxy off.

Disable your xscripts or java... The way they do this is to force your computer to run a script that gets your ip locally, and then sends it to them.

If they did a traceroute though, it wouldn't work.

This is one of the pains of the internet. Everyone who is an asshole, does everything they can to fuck with other people to make money, just because they can.

And they think it's a game, as though they aren't invading real people's privacy. I have friends that do this, and it makes my blood boil how stupid they are. Self centered tiny minded pricks, if you ask me.

But then so are most people in some way. What are you going to do.

ok, can somebody help me

i use mozilla, and it read my true ip with proxy on. i have java, xscripts, everything disabled, and it still reads my true ip.

i setup exployer and iy did not read my true ip.

i know somebody will say just use exployer, but i have everything on mozilla, and i had somebody work on my mozilla so that everything stored on mozilla is encripted until i type in a password to start it up. he said he could not do that on exployer. so if my computer ever got taken, their is nothing that can be read in the mozilla program files. also my mozilla can download files to an encrypted folder where i can store personal shit.

I doubt anyone here will be able to help you. I'm a net admin, but have no experience with Mozilla. If you've disabled java and scripts, there must be another setting, or it holds your ip on purpose and you can't change it...

Do a search on mozilla and security in google maybe.
