Band shirts. Yea or nah for men in 40s?

This thread I'm sure some (or most) will consider garbage. I'll be 40 years old on Friday. I'm a huge fan of metal music. It fuels my workouts like no other. It is a passion and hobby of mine.

Walking around with these shirts on on public, I get looks. Probably because it goes against the grain of normalcy. People in general are not comfortable with that. Also maybe because I don't look like I listen to metal. I'm a clean cut guy.

One of the small reasons I got on TRT (and have titrated up in a year) was my perception that upping my Testosterone will up my confidence. Confidence in that, I won't care about the looks I get from the sheep in public for wearing these shirts. It hasn't really worked. The only mind game I play is to think to myself that I look better than 98% of these people with my shirt off. I even jumped on Masteron for the "positive mental" benefits of it. Only been 2 weeks but we'll see.

Anyway, you can blast me for this post if you want or offer any suggestions. I'm ready for it. I've attached pics below of some examples of the "weirdness."

I think it’s more mental on your part, no amount of gear will give you confidence. You will just be a shy jacked individual lol.

I guess you need to work on not giving a fuck about other people’s perception more, I’m actually the opposite as I grew older the more I don’t give a shit lol.

Wear whatever you want man, nobody cares as long as your like it is what’s more important.

40 yr old dudes wearing band shirts is normal where I live. Don't worry about. Live your life and go on with your day.
I live in a midwest suburb. You wear any type of anti Christianity band shirt you get looks at the grocery store, mall, movies, etc. A lot of bands I enjoy (at the gym and out of it) are anti Christian.

Just an annoying unnecessary mental obstacle that I have to deal with in day to day life.

Since I was a child and first heard Metallica's Master of puppets at 8 years old I always thought metal was the music that had the most testosterone in it so to speak.

Then I discovered Slayer and it was uphill or downhill from there. Hundreds of bands I discovered to where boredom is impossible.

Probably a regional/cultural thing. Totally fine where I live. Plenty of way stranger folks than a simple band shirt here. I could see if you live in a very religious or strict place you may get looks. If you get looks, fuck 'em. You do you!

One of my favorite shirts is an old Season in the Abyss I still wear amongst others and I'm older than 40.

Some people are going to judge other people no matter what you where. Lame people have lame mentalities and act lame. I have no time for them. On the flip side when you are and live who you want to be you will likely meet other cool people doing the same.

I'm 50 and I wear them occasionally. Most people are too busy thinking about themselves to worry about what I wear. And if the do, f*/k em.

Of course you're always free to wear whatever you choose, and everything looks better worn with confidence.

On the other hand, by your 40s you should know that the world will make assumptions and interact with you based in large part on your appearance, and no amount of bravado will change that.

Millionaires wear what they want. Caring about how people judge you based on what you wear is by definition for the insecure.

That's what poor people think.

"Lottery winner" mindset.

"If I had a lot of money I wouldn't GAF".

Generally, highly successful people, most of whom accumulated their wealth using intelligence and not accidentally, are mindful of how they're perceived and pay attention to details. They dress, based on the situation, for the outcome they're seeking.

It has nothing to do with "insecurity".

lol I am Christian, and I grew up in the ghetto’s real inter city projects on the west coast. I am not all high and mighty I love all the hard stuff only on workout days, helps me release the beast.

I was always a star athlete baseball football basketball doesn’t matter, I had a football game around 2002? and the other team came out all crazy playing let the bodies hit the floor. I thought we were gana get out ass kicked, but we won like 40 or 50-0 lmao.

Takes more than good tunes. I’m 36 and have a few band t shirts if that helps, lol.

Never seen any, they all drive new Toyota Prius and shit. That’s why they have money.
30-40k $ cars, and you see broke ass bodybuilders in rented or leased foreign or super cars lmao.

You continue to be the perfect example of weird Internet guy who not only knows everything, but can't get along with anyone, yet is also successful and wealthy... cheers dude sounds like you're doing well

Very true.
My mum always told me to look presentable, as a sign of personal dignity.
When you are younger, often you don't care and rebel against it, but then you will see that people do judge a book by its cover and that it is important to be dressed appropriately for any environment / occasion you are in.
It's a sign of respect, too.
That doesn't mean your own taste and personality have to be obliterated.
But you wouldn't turn up at an office where everyone wears suits with a pair of hotpants on. Context and being appropriate is important.

As for these tshirts, maybe OP lives in a very small place and so he says that they attract negative attention.
Idk, it's pretty normal printed stuff, why it would attract negative attention, I am not sure.
Maybe it's just about your physicality getting noticed.
Maybe you are self conscious about it yourself and think people look at you in a bad way, when they don't.

Honestly i'm passed that stage. I'm 36 now and only wearing 2-3 band shirts and the heaviest is this godless endeavor from Nevermore. No way i'd wear None so vile from Cryptopsy or any Morbid Angel etc. I'm in a point i don't like to draw THAT much attention, even muscles wise i never go to grocery store with tank top etc. Already many guys staring like creeps, there's no need to feed the trolls. Of course it's their problem and not mine (or yours) i just prefer to be looked for other reasons than looking extra jacked in tank top or like i'm a satan admirer. It was fun when i was 20 but now i'm not into it. I'd wear this "heavy" clothing when going to a festival or in a metal pub or smt. Just my personal pov, not judging anyone.

Really im a weird internet guy? That sucks.lol

So I make over 100k with a high school education it’s not a lot of money where I live. But I’m far from wealthy or successful imo.

But I am doing well. Thanks.
