Why not simply enact the vetting process without the ban? What's the ban meant to do besides ban people from certain Muslim countries from coming here? I mean Trump did say on December 7, 2015 he wanted to put a halt on Muslim immigration into the US. Are we to now think he had a change of heart and didn't mean Muslims just certain countries? Bc for some reason trump doesn't strike me as the person who has a change of heart. Also, there already is a pretty thorough vetting process in place that involves numerous intelligence agencies around the world, certain criteria must be met to be labeled a refugee (why wasn't the ban on refugees only vs even legal residents here already), and the refugee him/her self doesn't get to choose which country they get go to anyway.
We are talking about the US not the world. The world didn't enact a ban on Muslim immigration, only the US did. And in the US, a cop, a cow, a bee, heck, even 4th of July fireworks are more likely to kill you than a terrorist. I don't say that to ban cows and fireworks, simply to point out how unfounded our fears are and how politicians play on those fears. Ask yourself, who is really benefiting from continually portraying terrorism as the thing people should worry about the most?
Even if those measures are unconstitutional and go against what this nation was founded upon? The acting attorney general was fired bc she realized the order was wrong and illegal and she stuck to her convictions instead of folding to the pressure. States are going to court about this stuff. Legal residents are being kept from their families bc if this. People from other countries who helped the US at the risk of being captured and killed by their own countrymen were being detained. I will happily wager that the effect of these bans as a means of making us safer is little to none.
