Im going to look around for a chart that gives expected test ranges for a given amount of Test/week. Im sure ive seen something like this before. I will post it if I find a credible one.
That would be awesome. On the other hand, I would not want to be linked to that "study".
Anecdotally, it has been my experience that 1.5 grams of test weekly is the sweet spot for a smaller body builder (five 6, 180 lbs 5% bf) and 2-2.5 grams for a larger bber (5 10 290 lbs). There are also important variables based upon genetics and training effort. In the words of Ronnie Coleman "everyone wanna get big, but no one wants to lift no heavy ass weight."
Of course they will be using other compounds, at least 3, preferably more. The sad part is, and again my evidence is anecdotal, I worked w/ a guy who, come pre-contest time, was on 3-4 grams a gear per week. However, he refused to train hard, and had not been off in 4 years. We started a back workout by doing 15 reps of lat pull-downs @ 130 lbs. I bumped up the weight to 180 (eventually doing 12 reps w/ 240). He refused to go over 150 lbs. I was "WTF?" and he said he was training smarter, not harder.
Ironically, he fired me, then hired a local IFBB pro, who charges double what I charge for contest prep work. They had a falling out, and I am actually working w/ that pro for the Toronto pro show 15 weeks from now.
My main point is that the amount of gear you use is contingent on training, genetics, cardio etc. The local pro, in addition to training hard, also won the genetically lottery. But he also busts his ass in the gym. That is a theory I have, and that theory posits that hard core training boosts the metabolism, especially metabolic turnover. That will result in lower test scores.
